Hi,
I'm just wondering if this is a good deal or not-
http://www.anaconda.com.au/Product/Bikes-and-Accessories/Bik…
Apparently it's 50% off…
Is it a decent bike at all? By budget is $300 max, and I've been looking at 2nd hand bikes.
Cheers

Are disc brakes on a cheap bike really a good thing? They are cheap rubbish designed to distract you from the other cheap components.
It looks like a $300 bike, no bargain. The discounts at Anaconda are fake. 60% off is common.
I'd be looking for a bike with freehub, not freewheel. At least it has double-wall rims.
Avoid those 14-28T cassettes.
Would be nice to find something locally like this:

Saw one in store… looks excellent value for the money.
I guess Ycon above only rides bikes costing thousands?
Haha definetly not.
I just picked up a Merida Matts TFS 100 D (2011) off Gumtree for $200. So happily gave Anaconda a miss.
It's a touch big I think (18") but I chopped the seat pole, so it goes lower, and it feels better.
Can anyone advise me about gears. They all work fine, except it seems pretty clunky when changing gears. It's not smooth at all. Should I expect it to be?
What are the parts like on my new bike- decent?

I'm guessing the disc breaks are the only thing this has going for it?
