heh I bought one of these from OW for $20 a few weeks ago. I realise now that it was slow AND expensive :P The speed does not affect my DSLR though as I don't take RAW shots and/or a rapid series of photos (and there is no movie mode). Also with eBay sellers only being a few dollars cheaper (and often selling fakes and having unpredictable shipping times). Personally I would probably get OW to price match this and buy it from them.
…Or, go to DSE/Tandy and get the Class6 Adata card http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/9197 for $0.01c more???

Agreed. In case any one is interested in SD card speed class ratings, here is the wiki link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital_card#SD_Speed_Cl…
The minimum speed does not always reflect on its true potential. There are a lot of cheap memory on DX which are lower in 'class' but faster overall.
I disagree. the class specs is an official certified standard, so if ones can reach faster by SD card standard, it would be carrying the stamp of approval.
Class is the minimum write speed. As with all statistics, it does not reflect on all the truth. It is highly possible that the average write speed on the Sandisk is higher. (Raptor Harddrive are rated SATA 150mb/s, Normal Harddrive is SATA 300mbit, does that itself mean raptor is slower?)
Also, it depends on what you use the memory for. Write speed isn't that relevant when you are working with very small files. Nor it is very relevant for taking photos (Unless you are working with RAW image).
It is important when you write mp3s to sd as well as large jpg files when using a 10-12 MP digital cam.
Sata 1 vs Sata 2 is comparing the interface but, it's not the same as comparing the flash drives themselves. The HD's themselves aren't rated as being 150 or 300mbit, they just make use of an interface that is rated for that. Similar to how USB cards don't or shouldn't get specced by the maximum speeds possible with USB 1 or USB 2.
But your right on the memory cards in that ones that are a slower rating could potentially be better overall depending on the use. Thing is, more often than not I imagine that isn't the case and if your not going to look up actual real world usage of the specific unit your safer just getting the class 6. Still, minimum transfer speed is only one figure of a few worth noting.
Also depending what you need it for Class 6 may offer no real benefits over a class 2 one anyway. In something like a console where it used to save a few kilobytes of save data every now and again you won't notice a difference anyway.
I have absolutely no idea what any of you are talking about - however I will say that the $1 postage is all it should cost to post an SD card - what was the postage cost originally? $5? $10? I mean, come on, how much would it weigh? About 10 bees wings? A raspberry bullet?
I could not make the $1 shipping voucher work… I added it into my shopping cart but I still get charged around $5 for shipping. Any help please?
MSY North Melb has special 4GB Kingston Class 6 for $10, Tandy has A-data for $14, why bother with this online deal and you have to wait for your item.
Hotbabe - as someone new here consider the following
- Not everyone lives near MSY and they dont ship
- Likewise for Tandy, but they do have more stores. However given, NRMA/RACV car costs >$1 a KM to run, where's the bargain there when this is the same price. And when you get to the store it may have sold out!!
Really unless the bargain is fundamentally flawed eg spam or onerous conditions- then hold off the negative vote. Negative votes chase away deals and that gives visitors here less choice - . If it doesn't suit you just don't vote. like I haven't. You can still make the comment without needing to use the negative vote.
4GB Kingston Class 6 for $10 @ MSY North Melbourne are sold out. Any new stock they're getting will be selling for $17.
you can also get it at the same price at DSE as well. BTW, how can I change the vote on ozbargain?
HotBabe…
1) If you're asking about the adata SDHC memory card, yes,,, see my earlier post at http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/9197
2) Go to the "Votes" tab at the top/right of this post. Your user will be listed with a Plus/Minus in a Circle next to your vote. This is the "Revoke vote" button.Cheers,
Live Long and Prosper.

Aside from the speed, better to buy a micro-SD card with adapter for compatibility with your phone and future gadgets.
They cost similar, e.g. at dealextreme.commany comments on dealextreme showed that they shipped out fake cards from China, card may still works but just a no brand Chinese card. I don't really trust dealextreme for memory card.
I've got a few cards from them, and one was "fake" branded. But the speed was up to spec.
If I cared, I could have returned it. DX replaced stuff for me before when I insisted.
Brands don't mean much any more. Does Apple or HP even own a single factory now?
Its all out of some factory in the grotty sprawling suburbs of Shenzhen or whichever.brand doesn't mean anything, but you have to pay more for the no brand one which you can get at cheaper price. Do you know that no brand card on DX is cheaper than those fake brand name card?
Given the other post http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/9197 has the class 6 card for $14, this class 2 (slower) sandisk card isn't very appealing.
