Half Price Split System Install (from $399) - HN Richmond (VIC) only. Unit Purchase Required.

41

Hi fellow OzBargainers

Thought I would share a great offer we have running at the moment at Harvey Norman Richmond (VIC) which is available across Melbourne until sold out!!

Purchase any Mitsubishi Electric, LG or Fujitsu 6kW or above Split System, and receive HALF PRICE standard back-to-back install!! Only condition is that the unit must be in stock and available!

6kw -> 7.9kW = $399 inc

8.0kw + = $424 inc

EXAMPLE = Mitsubishi Electric 7.1kW Inverter (MSZGE71KIT) $1,899 ($1990 at Appliances Online) + $399 Install!

Whats included in a 'Standard Back-to-Back Install'?

  • High wall split on a single storey property constructed of brick veneer, weatherboard or hardy plank, with a pitched or flat roof and a ground mounted compressor on solid base (if required), electrical connection to existing supply (no upgrades) and external isolation switch. Prices include both electrical and plumbing compliance certificates and include GST. Price includes up to 3 metres of refrigeration pipe and extrnal capping, and up to 15 metres of electrical cabling.

Reasons to purchase and have installed an air conditioner from us:-

  • Competitive pricing on all models - you aren't paying RRP on the unit to pay for the cost of the install! We've gone through all our in stock models and priced them at the same, or lower then our competition! Found a better advertised price from another major competitor? Let us know and we'll match it!

  • Wide range of industry recognised brands that all come with a 5yr Parts and Labour Warranty!

  • Reliable, qualified installers across Melbourne who's work we standby and guarantee - if you have a problem in the middle of summer 4 years from now, you don't have to try and track down the original installer who may be lying on a beach in Fiji - we'll get it fixed for you quickly and efficiently!

  • Interest free terms available!! (only available on the cost of the unit)

I'm happy to answer any questions that anyone may have including stock/pricing on particular models or questions on potential 'non-standard' install extras - hopefully you can appreciate the great price we have negotiated with our installers to provide everyone in Melbourne with a bit of cooling this summer!!

Thanks, Chris

    P.S - this is a pricing error…..

    • -1

sorry, thought that would be a good ozbargain 'in-joke'! This is DEFININTELY NOT a price error!!

      • I thought it was a good joke (once you said it was a joke…)

    • I cringed.

Isn't that normal price for a back to back install?

    • +1

Standard pricing is $699 for up to 3.9kw, $799 for 4-7.9kw, $849 for 8kw and up. I think you'll find that is fairly industry standard across Melbourne - feel free to contact The Good Guys, Camberwell Electrics, E & S Trading, and Betta Electrical to get a comparison. $399 is the lowest I have ever seen for a larger size unit that requires 15amp + connection…

What a rip off on the standard pricing compared to Sydney.

HN in Sydney (Auburn specifically) offer standard back to back installs for $500 for all systems.

Most other places in Sydney (ie, Bing Lee, The Good Guys, Clive Anthonys etc) offer standard install $550 for small units and $650 for larger units. I know because I just bought 3 Mitsubishi units, 2x 2.5kw ($790 ea in store) and 1x7.1kw (MSZGE71KIT for $1700 in-store) and did price comparisons from all these places in different locations across Sydney. Getting them installed tomorrow.

        • +1

Must be a Melbourne thing then - we regularly compare our installer pricing to our major competitors ( good guys, Camberwell electrics, coldflow, ezyair..) who seem to charge a similar amount. Can't do much about the price Victorian Tradies want to charge unfortunately…

        • Yep have to say we just got Bing Lee to install our new split for $500 in Sydney!

  • That's half price?? Wow, HN pockets half the costs of installs? I had my Samsung Inverter 7.2kW unit back to back installed with all hosing and wiring by an approved installer for $400. That was his normal fee…

    • I can assure you we make absolutely nothing from our installation package, this is usually paid directly to our installers, not us. With this particular promo, all costs (unit amd install) is paid through us to allow simpler payment (cash, visa/mc/amex etc)

    • Hi gddg,
Could you tell us the cost of your 7.2kw unit? Also who was your installer? I don't mind getting him to install a 7.1kw Mitsu in my lounge!

      • I'm in Syd so I doubt the installer will travel to VIC… :)

I would assume you did not use a big company like HN. It would be reasonable to assume there are cheaper installers around. for HN to be around the price you payed would actually suggest not a bad deal. (ie. they are selling it for cost)

      • I actually bought the unit from a HN here in Syd but refused to pay their overpriced installation charges…

        • +1

Not sure you can blame HN for the cost of install - this is done by external contractors who charge what they see fit. Each store is responsible to source their own installers who they believe will provide reliable, professional installation and customer service, at a price that is fair, and who will still be available and contactable in a years time!! The last thing we would want is to recommend an installer who won't look after our customers post purchase.

        • Hey gddg, I'm in syd, would you mind please PMing me your installer's details?

        • Can't PM u. Have u switched PM on?

The guy was really good and professional. His company mainly installs for commercial properties but also does residential. He even came back to check to ensure his install had no problems.

    • I quizzed 2 Harvey Norman's, 2 good guys, and one Clive Anthony stores. All were within $50 but some had two price bands, others had 3. It's exactly as cbarre says. It's not even something some salespeople even want to deal with, they just want to sell the units. We had two quotes directly from air conditioning mobs, and it was $50-100 different (install). In the end, good guys Frankston killed them all, and on the unit we preferred. Go figure.

FYI: on top of install cost is extra copper/cable if required, $55/metre. I complicated the install, and needed another 3mtr to keeps the install clean for the area.

Looks good Chris. Pity Gerry is so rude to us "professionals" at OzBargainers. All HN deals are going start off sour.

    • +4

Appreciate the feedback - just remember all Harvey Norman stores are franchised, so although we are all under the same umbrella, please don't forget the ones of us who are trying to provide good deals and great customer service to our customers.

      • As much as i dislike Gerry, I have actually spent over $8000 at HN over the last 6 months and I would not have done this if I did not get the best price (in Australia including the net). Now, this did require some (not huge) negotiation, but as the rep says they are franchises - and if they want your sale, they will hopefully work out a deal. I have never bought from this HN store, but if i was after an AC I would be checking my prices online and pushing Chris for a good deal.

does it come with a Monster cable?

If you want to tell your friends that's what was used…..go for it!! You can grab a $499 Nexus 4 at the same time if you like? Apparently the Beats Headphones work great with it!,

      • +6

The people who negged do understand what a joke is right……..?

      • +1

It says $496 on the website for the Nexus 4… ;)

        • woops, thought they were $499…..apologies

  • +3

50% off a rip off normal price… $400 is on the cheap side but not amazing.. certainly not enough to lower yourself to the personal standard required to purchase something from Harvey Norman.

  • +3

harvey norman sux!!! i wouldn't trust them for anything

they've have shown time and time again that they are unwilling to do the right thing by their customers

  • +5

Dude, don't try and tell jokes. HN has a bad image to start with so any jokes are going to have to be really funny. Other reps have the advantage since they do not have the same stigma that HN does.

    • +3

Unfortunately, HN Head Office do stuff up from time to time, making it a lot harder for the rest of us on the shop floor! However, we do provide a good deal every now and again and so I thought it was worthwhile alerting the ozbargain folk :)

  • +2

Props for a good deal. I dont see anyone with a cheaper one? And at least if the contractor stuffs up you have some recourse to go to HN. Its the cheapest that any retailer offers at least.

  • +2

Very reasonable installation price…. not super bargain but ok..

  • How much would the installations be for a two storey townhouse?

    • Hi MkVIGTI - tough to give an exact price without knowing the circumstances, but a standard second storey install is around $160 extra - this allows for the height/installation access and 2 extra metres of piping and capping (ie, the compressor on the ground). If you were looking at wall mounting the compressor instead, then this can change the price again. Best to contact myself at the store, or pop by with a rough diagram of the room/plans of the house, alternatively our installers can discuss with you on the day of the install extra charges where applicable, before going ahead. Hope this helps :)

Couple of years back I thought $600 was considered a reasonable price for a basic, quality install, while $400 would've been in Dodgy Bros territory, especially mid-summer.

Now people are saying $400 in unremarkable. Has the market recently been flooded with excess installers or something?

  • I thought I saw an advert in the weekend papers in Perth for Harvey Norman half price install, so I thought this was an Aust-wide offer?

    • Not Australia wide, maybe available at 1 or 2 other stores in other states but I haven't come across any yet…

  • Whats your best price on Fujitsu 6.3kW Inverter Wall Mounted Air Conditioner ASTG22LVCB? How long do we have to wait for install? And do they install on Saturdays?

    • Hi Mike. We have that model for $1695 atm. Installs on Saturdays can be tricky, but isn't out of the question - I'll need to check with our installer to confirm. Rough time frame at this stage is 7-10 days depending on the suburb. That being said, I booked one that was purchased today for next Tuesday install!!

  • Does your Samsung 2.5kW Inverter Wall Split Reverse Cycle Air Conditioner ($787) system qualify for the $399 install?

    • Unfortunately not, it is only for Mistubishi, LG and Fujitsu 6kW and above. We can offer standard install of $699 on that unit. Thanks, Chris
