Sony Centre New Year Sale (eg. 101cm Full HD LCD Bravia TV V-series KDL40V4000 $1498)

170

Attached copy of New Year Sale flyer at Sony Centre. Same deals at both Chatswood and World Square Sony Centre stores in Sydney (may be the same at all Sony Centres).

I noticed that their other TVs, cameras etc have some reduction, but perhaps the best deals are on the flyer.

  • Thats a great deal mate. I envision many people printing that flyer off to get the likes of HN, DS or JB to price match. Very nice find.

    • anyone try and get a price match?? cause you never know sometimes they would actually price match it cause its actually a store and not some warehouse like msy :P

  • they will not price match that, it's below cost price

    • Was just about to say that.

The RDRHX870B is a bargain though, retails for $579, can be found for $499, but $344 is crazy.

It says on the bottom of the flyer: "No customer orders" Is this just for employees?

    • I would like to know too as it looks like it might be that way.

    • i think they mean that u cant call them and ask them to hold it for u, i hope :D
btw wat date is the sale?

      • What date is the sale? Now. Started on the 27th, I think most of the best deals will be sold out by year end.

I just called the World Square (Sydney) store and they have the KDL40V4000 available with "enough stock for the whole week" at $1498! I guess that implies it's open to the public? :) Gonna go check it out today. Wicked price… Time to replace my <insert dodgy branded TV here> 20" chunky hunk of crap.

    • I also just called them and they said now they said they wont promise me that by the time i get there, there would be any stock left, HOWEVER i called CHATSWOOD and they said they take deposits :D and i think there getting them again on wednesday

  • Can someone email me the scanned flyer to [email protected] ?. My office network blocks upload.ozbargain.com?. Thanks.

  • CHapel St Store doesn't seem to have any in stock.

  • I liked the KDL40V4000 when it was $2000 with a free PS3.
Try going into a HN, Myer, DSE, or anyone else and ask them to do a $2000 deal for a KDL40V4000 with a 80GB PS3.

Other retailers matching/beating - I tried a few - Bing Lee couldnt (were offering for around $1850 with 5 year warranty, which is worth +$140 at the Sony store); Good Guys couldnt, DJs had it for around $1850 (from memory), Dick Smith said it was below the price they could get it in for.
JB Hifi said they could match but not beat.

As for deals with PS3 - Crownie, that might not be a bad idea. JB Hifi might be able to do that.

As for the customer orders part - maybe that means floor stock only, can't order more. Because I bought some items off that list (and I'm certainly not an employee), as were other customers in store.

Chatswood store indicated to me that the KDL40V4000 would be sold out in the next few days (maybe sooner). Sure its only 50Hz, but good deal for Sony Full HD.

    • It's funny, but Bing Lee actually own a couple of Sony Centre's if I'm not mistaken. The one in Homebush at least. Trust me though, no retailer apart from Sony Centre's will be able to match this deal.

      • I think that store is different. A kind of clearance store (display stock, returned stock?)

  • just a upgrade here
this is actually a sydney offer only
but melbourne stores have similiar offer~~
i bought the last HI FI system for aud 349 in melbourne store~~

  • I was at the sydney shop today. They have a stock of everything. And everything is on special, not only the ones on this flyer. these are just some examples. they have very good discounts on home theaters/AV receivers, Hifis, DVD players/recorders but very little on Camcorders, Vaio and bluray produts and nothing on PS3 (only games are 20% off)

  • Been around Melbourne but can't find any store that will price match the 40" V4000 for $1498. Sony Centre in Melb have it for $1700… $200 too high for me.

  • Sadly the Adelaide store won't go anywhere near matching the 40" price. Best they can do is $1849.

  • I went to both the World Square and Chatswood (Sydney) stores today and both had no stock left for the KDL40V4000! Apparently they sold over 70 units alone at the Chatswood store on Sunday the dude told me! Dunno if that's true, but they're expecting more stock tomorrow! I've put my deposit down and will be picking one up tomorrow hopefully :) Added $140 for an extra 4 years (i.e., total of 5 years) warranty which is a steal from Sony I thought? Also threw in a 1m HDMI 1.3 gold plated cable for $50 ($89 RRP). Not bad?

FYI, went to Bing Lee and they wouldn't budge on their ~$1700 price (plus could only do an extra 4 years warranty for ~$300) - what the! JB Hifi were willing to price match Sony (but couldn't beat it) but the warranty was still higher ($170 for an extra 4 years) and the dude tried to sell me some cheap Beklin HDMI cable that he could only do for $86 so I walked :/

    • Actually, the Belkin HDMI cables are better.
I have both. Belkin is thicker as well, although both are 1.3.

      HDMI CABLE 3.0M VMC30HD
      HDMI 1.3 Specification
      x.v.Colour signals
      3.0M Length

Anyway, the deals on Sony are amazing.
Just a month back, I bought the receiver STRDA5400ESB for 2400 AUD. I thought that was special.
Today it is around 900 AUD cheaper!
I wish I could return the old one and buy the new ;-)

  • Melb stores said the KDL40V4000 was sold out. They didn't say anything about the flyer being valid or not valid. I emailed it through to them and they said they would call me back. But still haven't heard from them - both Chapel and Bourke St

    • reply back here if you get a reply back from them. love to pick up the V4000 for $1500.

      • Why not try going to JB Hifi for the price match (ie the flyer doesnt tell them its Sony Centre Sydney only price). Seems JB Hifi was the only retailer who could match (based on experience in Sydney).

        • Tried that already. They rang the Melbourne Sony Centre which has a different price! argghhh.
