Nearly $1000 cheaper than local r.r.p and $400 less than S.I.

It's well over the $1,000 tax-free threshold for imports, so this will almost certainly attract customs duty and GST unless you get lucky or the seller undervalues it in the customs documentation. Duty and GST payable for this will be about ~$232 by my calculations.

    • my bad….I didn't consider that….

$1958 at cable connection. Free pickup.. For the sake of not having to deal with customs and import tax… I know what I would be doing… Also local warranty!

    http://www.thecableconnection.com.au/Epson-EH-TW6100--TW6100…

    • I know what I would be doing…

Me too. Seriously, for something that costs this much an extra $200-300 (15-20%) is worth it for the local warranty, not having to deal with customs, not having to use a power adapter or change the power cord, lower risk of damage in transit, more convenient local customer support, supporting local retailers etc.

      • Actually yeah, this is not the sort of equipment I'd want travelling the globe, being opened and played with by customs etc. I'd actually be amazing if it arrived in full working order.

Not to take away from the OP, it still IS a good deal, just with some risks involved.

Incidently, what sort of life are they getting from the lamp/bulbs these days?

  • I bought the previous model from ebay cost me around 1500 incl two years mack warranty, havent had any problems with customs or anything. Was in well working order, unit died after a month, the first 90 daya covered by manufacturer so anything happends we need to send it back to us at our cost and seller pay for return, after 90 days i can claim the warranty locally through mack so i waited for 90 days as the shipping was around $170, now dealing with mack
So all i know is there ia no customs problem, we r not importing anything, we buy from a ebay au store and they r the one importing stuff, its oke if you r happy to deal with the sort of problems like above, i was unlucky , so my unit died in the first month, but it wont be the case for everyone else

    • According to the OP link the item is in London. Are you sure import tax and GST have been dealt with by eBay AU store? In another word if eBay AU store has already taken care of import tax and GST this item will be provided with a tax invoice for us to claim GST if we bring it out of Australia within a month?

      • Item location: Lincoln, Nebraska, United States

        Should've gone to Spec Savers?

    • so you didnt pay tax? or you did?

      • I didnt pay any tax, and on the invoice they send to me doesnt have any abn number mentioned, so i dont think you can claim the gst if you take it out to australia. I am gonna take my projector to the service station today and mackcamera said they will reimburse the cost.

I dealt with auaudiovideo store in ebay. The item shipped using fedex express and I collect it from my local post office, takes almost a week to arrive.

  • Im not a rep or not associated with ebay, dont know why its showing me as a rep

    • Your rep flag has been cleared. It was because of a previous eBay deal that you posted as a rep.

  • Kudos to you for mentioning the import tax for goods over $1000!!!

  • I bought my projector a while ago from america (priceUSA with return insurance) and it arrived fine. Projector is still great over 1 year on.

Don't be put off by the distance, as long as you know what you are doing it should be fine.

    • If there is no problems then its good, sometimes you are unlucky and the device will show a fault just after few months like my case with the projector. But I think a $500 savings for a 2K item is still worth for the hassle.

I just got the tw6000w for 1799 during boxing day sale. And the tw6100w was around 2100 at that time. Price is up a bit again thou.

I think should definitely get the wireless if your room is not that big. Save lots of hassle and money if you are not going To mount it on the ceiling.

Aus include 2 years warrenty and some bulb warranty too.
