  • Hi guys.
    Not good with PC knowledge.
Just wondering how the option 2 machine will go with running Photoshop CS6, playing HD content on another display at the same time and running other programs such as downloading all at the same time?

Have been needing to get off my old Commodore 64 (kidding) and for under $700.00 (with Win 7 added), I may be able to convince the wife. Heh, heh…

    • +1

I can run CS5, a bunch of other apps and HD content on my other screen fine and im only using a dual core PC with 3GB of ram. So i assume this one will be able to ace it.

    • Hi Rattle,

This PC should be able to eat CS6 unless you're doing large scale work with mega high DPI (we're talking about out door signage design mainly here with real size being 1m x 1m or something that big, 300+ DPI).

On graphics design for say flyers or website artwork you will have more than enough grunt to work through the data at a nice high speed.

  • These seem like great value. Unfortunantly im not after a full blown desktop PC. I am after a cheap pc for a HTPC box. I require something with no hard drive (run off a usb and all media is networked), and hdmi out, and around 2GB of ram. Whats the best you guys can do? CPU can really be anything as low as a dual core too.

  • Vision Tech,
Will you do free delivery to Australia (or at least NSW) too?

    • Hi Jezster,

Too cheap for free delivery unfortunately! I can offer free pick up in store? :) Sydney Metro freight for these PC's is only $15 so our freight rates are more than reasonable!

Is the Predator Case a USB 3.0 front case or not?

If not, how much more for a case that has front USB 3.0 port/s

Looking at it - the mobo doesn't even seem to support USB 3.0.

Not what a would call a wise buy these days…

    • Hi GreatWhite,

No front panel USB 3.0 unfortunately + the motherboard doesn't have the header.
      For the USB 3.0 header, a cable adapter is available for $10 to make the USB 3.0 port work, then to swap the case here are some options;

Silverstone Redline Case - $40 extra

      Thermaltake V4 Case - $45 extra

      • Hi VT

thanks for the quick reply. I know the pressure is on to minimise the cost of these PC's, but I reckon a majority of your customers would quickly regret buying a PC that doesn't offer USB 3.0 front ports these days. It is just so much quicker.

The Thermaltake V4 case seems the obvious choice to overcome those issues….

Perhaps if you make an OzBargain build with it in the future you could call it the GreatWhite :)

        • Mr GreatWhite,

My Apologies - the Predator case does have USB 3.0 on the front panel! Excuse my above post… USB 3.0 is a standard feature on this PC :)

  • I don't think this motherboard has USB 3.0 ports.

  • Looks good, been a while since I have seen a 160gb hdd. Pls factor that in if anyone wants to use it for games. 160gb can't do anything. 2tb will cost around 100.

    • Why can't a 160GB be used for games? Sure it wont store as much as the 2TB, but it will still work 100% for the games you do have loaded to it..

  • +1

Curious as to what PSU is used in the 2nd build? 1.2kw is pretty hefty…

    • +7

Definitely not Antec or Corsair. It's a generic PSU, and in certain places of Iraq the locals use it as an improvised explosive device.

    • I'm not a computer expert here, but is a 1200W PSU a little bit overkill?

      • For a system like this? Yes, a good 1200W would cost almost as much as this whole box

These crappo Chinese generics are hopelessly overated, they just make it up. Probably more like 600 watts safely

  • Man I hate it when companies label the system a "gaming system" then put a crappy card like a HD7750 in it…
Post a cheap computer, thats great, but don't tell porkies.

  • problem is that board is a pile of shit… no usb3, no sata3 so its really behind the ball

    • a h61 is about standard at this price from most companies, and with an i5 its not too bad. If you want more, spend more, my only issue is calling this a "gaming" system. Its clearly not.

    Hi rep,
How much for only the following:

    CPU: Intel Core i5 3330 @ 3.2GHz (3.6GHz Turbo)
    _M/B: AsRock B75-PRO3-M, or Asus P8B75-M
    _RAM: Corsair 8GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600MHz (4x2GB?)
    _GFX: ATI HD7750 2GB DDR3 Gaming Graphics

    • -1

rep, if you want to you can PM me the price.

    • -1

No reply or PM from rep. Seems like they don't want business.

      • +1

Not wanting to be your personal shopper is not the same as not wanting any business.

  • +2

Both systems can play games. It may not be high end but they are still gaming systems. If the systems came with no video card and less than 2GB of RAM, then I might have a different opinion.

    • Its not even entry level, never mind high end.
An entry level gaming card is something like a 650Ti which this doesn't even come close to.

  • will this system be able to run far cry 3 on ultra settings?

    • Run Far Cry 3, yes.
Run Far Cry 3 on ULTRA settings, no.

      For max settings you'd need closer to 2GB DDR5 graphics + a higher CPU and more RAM wouldn't hurt. Check out this for a more suitable system;
      http://www.visiontech.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=beret

      • That's a fair increase in price for little gain in the graphics department (you know, the one that'll make the most difference). IMO throwing a 7870 or 7950 into one of these would perform just as well for cheaper.

  • I have a 1.5 yr old i5 Sandy-bridge with 8GB of RAM and a Sapphire Radeon 6950. This plays Far Cry 3 on nearly max settings quite well. Of course a 7950 would be better but I'm just saying the older 6950 works well too.

  • +1

calling this a gaming build whilst including a 7750 is just plain deceptive and designed to lure in unsuspecting newbie PC buyers

    • totally agree. That case and PS is junk. The GPU is probably as good as an intel hd 4000. I wont bother checking details.

    • +2

hi lordsugar, this video card is powerful enough to run all of the current games on the market including consumer favourites such as Black Ops 2, MW3 and battlefield. It can't handle them on ultra settings, but on medium settings you can play these games quite smoothly. Keep in kind this is a budget gaming PC for only $415, if you're expecting to play all games on max settings for this price you're kidding yourself.

thanks for your input, but i feel as though your neg is a bit unfair as this PC CAN handle all of the current games - you're just hoping for way more than the price we're selling for.

  • Using staticice the cost of parts for the Vision Tech Predator is about 415 not including the case and PSU. So it's OK value for those who don't want to build their own PCs.

Be aware that the Intel i5 3300 is pretty uninspiring as a processor - no hyper threading support and it has a locked multiplier so limited overclocking options - especially with that board.

Probably a good buy for kids who want to play games from previous years or current games at low resolution.
