The pictures of this product with the batteries included displayed are not consistent. Duracell or knock off….

Be good to take it to work. Nope your raising my blood pressure! Go away now! or be a bit nicer… Come back when its lower.

  • It it a good one? Asking because 43 thousand buyers yell "buy this one for $5 more"

I purchased this one a few days ago, I tend to hover over to products that have a higher number of positive reviews if the prices are similar.

I can say on the one that you linked, it works well so far and is providing a seemingly accurate reading.

Personally I would (did) buy the A&D Medical one, $5 saving is not worth to gamble something that you are purchasing for your health, unless you have clear reviews of the cheaper one working as well.

      Hope this helps.

  • personally i paid 75. i mean that extra 35 is just a kfc family meal.. and it prob give you green light to eat more. (or none).
jokes aside. its what my dr use but his is top range and wireless

    • cheaper on ebay by looks.

  • It isn’t clear whether this uses AAA or AA batteries as both types of batteries are shown as included in the images.

If you are into tracking daily readings, get a Bluetooth one, so it can sync with health apps.

    Approved by the TGA(tga.gov.au).

Bollocks it is. Don't be fooled. That link is a registration. The TGA has not examined the product, let alone given some sort of approval.

Not the same thing at all. "Frontida Health" which seems to be actually one person, Jonathan Morgan, is approved to sell the device because he submitted the paperwork, and vouched that it meets standards. He would be basing that on claims made by the Chinese supplier. I would be very surprised if anyone in Australia has tested this. It would probably cost more than it would be worth.

You are implying that the TGA has examined or endorsed the device as being safe and effective, have you not?
In reality, is that of any value compared to just ordering from Ali Express ? Those companies display certificates too.

Those machines are all over Alibaba etc for around US$10, so A$29 delivered is a good price, especially if you have Prime.
Similar to ordering direct from China.

I'm not implying anything. I'm just writing what is given in the item description.

To be fair, it's a simple device, it doesn't need precision calibrations.

There are many variables when measuring blood pressure, you are looking for a trend over a period of time, rather than absolute readings.

If you are concerned, get an Omron BPM, JA Davey does free annual calibration during warranty, or $40 when out of warranty.

Bought a 7600T in 2018, calibrated (validated) FoC 3 times during warranty, then couldn't be bothered. Still works consistently and not far off from GP readings.

Basically they test it against a reference BPM PA-360-Z and print a report like this.

      • Irrespective of the complexity of the device, the claim "TGA approved" cannot be made.

        https://www.tga.gov.au/how-we-regulate/advertising/specialis…

        • It is approved to supply, otherwise it wouldn't show up on ARTG.

          • Product Category: Medical Device Class IIa

Guess there's a misunderstanding in "approved" vs "endorsed".

Guess there's a misunderstanding in "approved" vs "endorsed".

Which is exactly why the TGA does not allow "TGA Approved" to be used in advertising…

@greatlamp: Fair enough, by approved they merely mean they are aware of it and it is not banned from sales.

  • Used it in the past, pretty accurate with the results

The claim 'TGA approved' must not be used in advertising
    • Ok, fair enough.

  • Buried in the terms and conditions, some health insurance policies allow one to claim a blood pressure monitor every few years.
