I'm pretty sure you get a coffee puck out of this machine everytime you pull a shot.
I haven't measured it to that accuracy however.

But to be honest, i dont think it is needed. At most, you just need to buy some aeropress filters (which are all circular), and then cut it to size, and put one at the top. It is also possible to have one at the bottom of the basket too, tho i dont find that necessary (it depends on your taste in coffee - making it cleaner, vs a sharper fuller body espresso).

I'm currently using a Philips 4300 fully automatic machine and pretty happy with the convenience, but I'm curious about the coffee quality difference. Would this manual machine make noticeably better coffee in terms of taste and crema? I'm open to putting in a bit more effort if the upgrade in cup quality is worth it. Appreciate any thoughts.
Crema is generally a sign of bean freshness. Don’t have much experience with full autos but having more control of grind would be a pretty big difference I would have thought.
Auto in the kitchen, Barista express in the man cave for real coffee.
That being said, the Barista Express water delivery is rubbish.
Comes out a single hole (potential channeling issues). I made an aluminum diffuser to go under the shower screen .
Pump pressure is too random. I installed a motor speed controller so I can regulate the pump.
Then its a good machine.
Makes excellent single shots.
In out of the box setup, single shots are a disgrace.
Thoughts on this vs Dual Boiler?
Never owned a machine but with the amount I’m drinking I want to get my first machine.Not really comparable as the Dual Boiler is three times the price (RRP) and doesn't come with a grinder.
This is a good 'beginner' espresso machine, I had one for 5+ years and it always performed well.
I guess as a rookie it’s not worth it.
But I should say I think the Breville Bambino Plus with a good grinder would be better than the Barista Express hey…
I've personally used a Bambino and was not impressed, it feels/looks a lot cheaper than the Barista Express.
Pretty good deal, haven't seen it this low for a very long time. Perhaps they are finally phasing it out for the newer model, which does fix a couple problems like the messy grind and easier tamping.

The barista express impress. It's been out for a couple years but it would take some time to use up all the regular express stock. They might be getting to the end of it finally.
How does this model compare to the Barista Pro?
Pro has more grind settings, LCD screen, and a better steam wand.
And faster to get to temperature (2-3 seconds)

Bought this few months ago. So far no complaints and has been amazing!
Make sure you get a coffee puck 53.3mm with it. It keeps your machine clean and probably makes slightly better coffee
