Blind Drivers are dangerous and should not be allowed…

A bit ugly with the power cable running to the unit unless you can hide it along the wall.

  • Does anyone have a good battery-operated alternative from AliExpress they’d recommend? I’ve heard mixed things about battery-only options, but the windows are quite high up, so I’d really prefer to avoid running cables along the wall. Thanks

    • The battery operated ones do not have removable batteries, so you'd have to run a cable to recharge them.

I'm fine with that, as long I have no cables visible during the day. Recharge it whenever needed.

      https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007463059138.html?spm=a2…

I have a few of these.. works great with double sided tape install, integrated with HA for light and time based automation.. Very easy to unclip and remove for recharging

      • Does this work with Google Home/Samsung Smart Things?

Also how do you find the battery life, how often do you need to charge them?

And can you set them to only open part-way, or is it only open/closed?

        • No idea about google home/smart things..I only use HA. It is a step motor , max and min can be set as in fully open and closed for a single press operation or you can press the buttons to open or close as much as needed. Battery life is very good, a full charge tends to last around 2 to 3 months depending on the curtain weight..mind you my curtains generally open when the sun has risen and shut down when lights need to come on inside the house which is generally close to sunset so twice a day .

        • They should if you pick up a tuya ZigBee hub which are also fairly cheap. The battery life will be better than getting a wifi version.
I have a ZigBee version and get a couple of months out of a recharge with a solar panel attached (which I'm not sure actually does much) and they get a bit of use.

          • @at9: The solar panel is just a gimmick but yes I run a zigbee network as well and these things fit in quite nicely ..no need for a remote or phone apps when you can use zigbee light sensors with home assistant and create a program to control the blinds and the lights simultaneously .. these units are silent and have plenty of torque .. I also have 2 xiaomi aqara but these work just as well at a much cheaper price point

Is there something that open and close curtains (right - left)?

  • Could a single remote control multiple blinds simultaneously?

i.e. having multiple blinds paired to the same remote

  • I've had one of these for the past year, and im surprisingly impressed. Hasnt skipped a beat, pulling and lower a very wide blind. Also its connected to home assistant

    • i have one too and can confirm that it uses Tuya and thus works fine with google home, it even rolls up and down in percentages. Just make sure you set the limits of the curtains before you ask google, this bamboozled me for a bit.

      • Agree. Mines is 2.6m heavy blind in daily schedules. Been great.

  • Same as above - had these for a couple of years now and works flawlessly

    • How much is it normally? Thanks.

      • $174.99, according to the website.

      • It is normally around $70ish

  • I'm using aqara coz it is compatible with homekit.

  • I have 5 of these, occassionally on ebay they go for $30. Keep an eye. But this is good price. Sometimes they need to be reset to connect to Alexa
