Was at Bunnings to buy a ride on lawn mower and came across this and grabed one. Even though its battery operated, the range seems to be quite good.

Hang on, theres a fleet of teslas waiting to be retrofitted with a spinning blade and pushed out of the showroom.
But then there’s the risk of terrorists lighting your mower on fire.
Instead of this Ryobi, I would buy 1 (one) Holdon comodoro and 1 (one) fard falco and register them for Bathurst, repco, sca car races just like mercedes mc laren Hakkinen and Raikkonen or horse race ecuries, win-win.
With flame thrower pack option
Guess ill HODL then lol
McLaren…
That is really cheap. The equivalent Ego 42" is $10k. Its a runout model, this is the new one - https://shorturl.at/BwWp0
equivalent Ego
But the equivalent Ego doesn't use lead acid batteries like this Ryobi one :/
To get equal to the ego, would be looking at this one for $10k
https://trade.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-80v-hp-42-lithium-zero-t…
All that said, buying this one and swapping out the lead acid batteries to LiFEPO4 ones for ~$1k still makes it cheap!
What sort of batteries does it run? I wouldn't buy if it's lead acid.
"It runs for up to 3 hours on the included 4 x 12V 100Ah batteries, making it ideal for people with up to 3 acres to mow."
Literally the first paragraph
That paragraph doesn't say anything about the type (chemistry) of battery.
4.8KWH AGM. But you can upgrade it to LiFEPO4 using a conversion kit.
Good to know, thanks!
Not sure how similar it is to the American stuff - but old mate at aging wheels had a bit of a job converting his to lithium batteries.
Runs lead acid from the factory.
Retail Price: $6999
PowerPass Price: $6649.05
I am in VIC 3820…….
I think you got the ride on which is $4000, not the zero turn
I got the zero turn one. Invoice attached.
The screenshot he posted shows the zero turn
The screenshot shows zero turn, but says ride on mower. Has anyone seen it at OP's price?
Showing me price of $6999
@Skymstr which store was that
Hoppers Crossing, VIC
Not for the same mower though.
I see this deal is for tradies. RRP $7k. Fair enough.
Not even comparable. FFS
How did you get it for $4000, if the guy above is getting a Powerpass price of $6.5K? I'd be interested in purchasing! Cheers
I suspect the store rep made an error.
These would be fun as mobility scooters
Cheap little daily
great for school pick up?
Does this ZT flip over easily? It's the only thing that's stopping me getting a Zero Turn over a Ride-On, with the amount that roll over on slopes (great for flat land, but that's not my case).
have a read of the manual for the max angle. I'd be very careful.
Consider a flymo on a string.
I would have thought the ZTs have a lower centre of gravity. Mine does anyway, compared to most typical tractors that have the engine at the front.
Anyone done the conversion to Litjium batteries and know the approximate cost? It’s not going to double the price of the mower is it?
Quick google suggests a similar size battery (5kWh) would be about $1k minimum. Add a little more in hardware you might need.
You might be able to get cheaper if you make your own pack.
I'd probably just use the lead acid batteries until they die, then upgrade to lithium.
12v 100ah lifepo4 are regularly <$200 on ebay (4x needed) . Generally all have a built-in bms. If you don't know what that is best NOT to tackle the conversation ;)
The original AGM batteries would likely last 2 years if changed regularly and not over discharged. YMMV…
Some serious weight savings to be had if this thing has 4 x AGM. Lithium are less than half the weight.
I live in an apartment
Cool story Hansel.
You going to use it as a coffee table then?
Zero turn is way easier to use in an apartment.
George Jones recommends for those bottle shop runs
good for a 100sqm back yard with clothes line and trees
I don't need this…
But I want it.
can you use this without the mower function? like to go get the bread and milk from the shops?
Maybe in the country.
I live regional. We use motorised eskies. Easier to keep the beer cold with them.
Country folk are practical folk.
Just mow as you go and help out your neighbours…
Dirty nickle?
It's that like a rusty sheriff's badge?
I saw a bloke in Bunnings with one of these, tears in his eyes. I asked him, mate, what's wrong? Nothing, he said, I'm just looking for lawn.
this is going to blow up and catch on fire like the ego, lol.
link?
I've had one of these babies for two years. So much better than my previous two petrol ride ons… No belts, no oils, no fuels… My only complaint is the tyres are trash for use in soft soils.
A Ryobi or BYD?
