Shopback > Trip.com --- Query About Definition Of China Domestic Flights?

I have a query regarding Shopback cashback with Trip.com, but I have searched a lot for this answer and I could not find anything. Also, their internal help-centre will take 48-hours to respond, but there's a currently a good, upsized cashback going on for flights, which I want to take advantage of.

Flights - 10%
Domestic China Flights - 0.2%

My query is what constitutes as a "Domestic China Flight" ?

Is it a flight ticket in ONE BOOKING which starts AND finishes inside China ?
or
is it any component of the flight ticket in ONE BOOKING, that contains a 'domestic' flight segment, will reduce the cashback?
Example:
(1) Sydney → Shanghai → Kunming
(2) Sydney → Guangzhou → Beijing → Doha
(3) Dubai → Xian → Xiamen

Would all of these 3 x examples, qualify as a "non-domestic China flight ticket" ?

In examples (1) and (3), the originating country is not China, but there are domestic connecting flights inside China.

In Example (2), there are 2 x domestic flights within the booking, but start AND destination are not China.

By the way, If buying with Citi credit card, the discount is 5% and the frequent flyer point accumulation is Citi points, eg. $2.6 = 2.6 points per 1 Velocity points [VFF], whereas going through Trip.com, I could use a Virgin Flyer credit card and the points accrued is $1 = 1 VFF (capped at $1500 for the month).

PS:
I have already used the 5% Citi offer already this year, and thinking if I can use it again? (that's another topic altogether!)

I am not ShopBack, and you should be asking them, but any ticket that has a location outside the country is not a 'domestic' flight.

All three of those should be "non-domestic China flight tickets".

Make sure you check cost booking direct, as sometimes cashback scheme prices are inflated as we have seen on other posts.

I did ask them, but I cannot wait the <48 hour response time, as the 10% Shopback cashback ends tonight.
I also need to really get the flights, cashback or not, so knowing today would be helpful to my OzB ways :-D

Yes, I would figure it so, because they are all on 1 booking and starts off outside China,
however it will also end up inside China, via a transit stop AND a Domestic flight.

I just didn't want Shopback to disqualify the cashback and say "but but….you had a domestic Chinese flight in your booking", even though I didn't choose that and that's how the airline 'routed' my international-originating flight.

I always try to buy direct from the airline, because during emergencies, it's annoying to deal with a '3rd party broker / travel agent'.

The thing is, the flights are too cheap on Trip.com and the Chinese airlines don't sell directly to non-Chinese customers.

  • I demand cashback after reading and analysing this.

    • You're exchanging time by breathing.

  • My query is what constitutes as a "Domestic China Flight" ?

I wonder if this one counts?

    • anywhere else in China → Taiwan, and
    • Taiwan → anywhere else in China
    • That's a good question.

I mean, if Taiwan belongs to China, why does China want it?
