iPhone 16 Pro Max 1TB $2099 (RRP $2849) Delivered @ Costco (Membership Required) (Price Beat $1994 @ Officeworks)

1760

It's worth noting that this is for online delivery only; your local Costco may have stock at this price.

No idea if this is intentional or a pricing error, I stumbled upon it while researching where to buy a new iPhone 16 from; I've put in an order so we'll see what happens.

    Price beat it at officeworks

    • Added to the title; I'd be curious to see if Officeworks acknowledges the price if it's a pricing error.

      • +13

They did for me. Called them, matched over the phone, picking up from local store tomorrow! Thanks OP!

        • Nice! cheers for the confirmation.

        • What did it come down to?

EDIT: duh just saw it in the title oops

        • which store did you call ?

          • +2

            @jaysee-teh: I didn't call a store, I just called the central line, option 4 (1300 633 423).

      • Is it usually apple phones dont get discounted by much? This seems like a good deal

    • No stock in VIC…

  • +4

BUY THEM NOW BEFORE THE TARIFFS add a further $1000 on top.

    • +1

      That was the plan <_<

      • +1

The next few weeks are going to be a shit show. Brace yourselves everyone!

        • +4

Honestly, Trump has excelled. I was expecting a show and he's delivered a circus. 10/10.

          • -3

@tessel: Oh yeh for sure, he doesn't care about the economy, he cares about his and his friends (Israel and Ukraine and Elon Musk and the likes of him) pockets and bank accounts.

            • +12

@itsmoe: Lol, you got the wrong side there mate. He is besties with Putin

              • -1

@OzViper: Yeh he is good mates with Putin but he is still sending money to the likes of Israel for no reason and I wouldn't be surprised if he is still sending a lot to Ukraine behind the scenes too.
Australia did the exact same thing while still pretending like they give a shit about the aboriginal people of the land. Shocking these politicians are.

    • +17

How did I land on OzbargainUS

      • -1

The Australian Dollar is coupled to the American Dollar, which is why it has been crashing mate, even if the tariffs don't directly effect Australia (they do), the lower Australia dollar will result in an increase in the price of products coming out of any country outside of Australia as most are traded with US dollar.

        • +1

So you expect the aud to drop 25%?

          • +2

@reactor-au: We hope not but it's very likely to go down to close to 50c USD like it did in the past.

      • It'll apply everywhere as it'll be easier for companies to set a local vs exported goods price - a la Switch 2; that and prices will go up with weakening AUD.

        • +6

That is true. I have a feeling, these big dogs (rats) the filthy rich ones, are manipulating the global market to sell at the top and buy at the bottom to double or triple their investments of the back of the hard working lower class people, us.

      • +1

        Make America Go Away

    • -2

      Why ? When it's made in "china"….

      • US is Apples home market and most important market. They aren't going to increase 20% just for US. It'll be a smaller increase but they'll have to spread it across the whole world to pay for.

Similar to the LA bushfires, the consequences means increase home insurance across the world to spread out the cost

    • +1

What are you even talking about? Do you think WE are putting tariffs on the US, or the US is putting tariffs on their own exports?

      • -1

The US is but common sense would make you assume, Apple is a US company and most of the components of their phones and other products are made in China so the prices will increase for parts coming out of China automatically which will then translate to an increase in the overall price of those products which will then means their products sold in Australia will increase in price.

It is estimated that there will be an increase of about 30% of all Apple products if the tariffs situation isn't resolved any time soon.

        • What you're saying makes no sense for the Australian market. If it's going to increase the cost for apple to sell products here, why would they import them from China to the US, then send them to Australia? It doesn't benefit the company at all. People are just talking straight nonsense. Seeing the same from Nintendo fans, carrying on like Nintendo of Japan is going to ship every international console through the USA just to attract tariffs.

          • @Ryven: Apple is only operating here but as an American company, the tariffs would apply even if they are selling those phones in China. I don't think you understand how it works. Surely these phones are not physically going into the US and then back to Australia, but the tariffs would apply to anything Apple as an American company buys from those countries with high tariffs.

Plus they pay close to no taxes in Australia so all the books have to go through the US financial system or at least you would hope and therefore, they would be effected by the tariffs.

I could be wrong, if someone can leave more input into this conversation, would be great.

            • @itsmoe: Last I heard they were running their Australian operation through Ireland, entirely because of the tax implications.

              • +1

@Ryven: It's interesting to see how that would work with parts coming out of China. And if Apple can avoid it but shifting their operations, can they avoid tariffs? Hmmm..

  • +4

Shall we stock it up before the next $3000 iPhone come online after the Tariff 101 take effect

    • +9

That would make sense but the financial analysts are predicting a 50/50 chance of recession. So it would be advisable to have some savings on the side.

    • +2

My handset position for the foreseeable future is HODL.

  • Any deal on Iphone 16? Thanks

  • +5

    This RRP $2849 lol

    • -2

      What's wrong with the RRP?

      • +1

huh? becoz its a phone not a computer

  • +1

JB, Harvey wont price match : (

    • +1

why do you want to try them when officeworks is doing easily and beating it too

      • +1

i just need a screen shot for that price from those website for Price Protection claim. lol

  • +3

Damn, I just bought 256gb for $1880 after price beat at OW from Costco last week. Would’ve preferred 1tb at this price.

    • +4

      The bargainers dilemma T_T

    • The impetuous of youth 😅

    • +1

I had something like that as well. Bought a 1tb M1 Max MacBook Pro for $4k off Apple refurbished. A month later the 4tb was the same price 😭

  • Do you need costco memebership to order?

    • Given alot of people spend 10 hours plus per day on it, 2K isn't that bad

      • -2

This is a ridiculous argument. The RRP is crazy. You have just been conditioned to think that the price is ok. Only a fool would pay over $1k for a phone.

        • +4

People pay $10k for a watch they use everyday so $2k for a phone you use everyday for 3 years+ is fairly reasonable.

Sure you can go with something cheaper but when you're literally using it multiple times a day the cost per use drops dramatically.

The last thing i'd want to do is get 1 year down the line thinking i should've forked out more for the next model up.

    • +8

How ironic. The amount of negs you received is the exact reason why Apple will continue to raise the price of the iPhone. "You pay for quality", "It's called inflation", "You use your phone every day". Excuse after excuse. Cut the BS and stop trying to flex.

    • +1

Nobody ever thought a gaming video card would cost $7000 in 2025 and here we are.

  • how much better will this be than my 13 Pro Max?

    • +4

      Three metric improvement units.

    • I was looking at upgrading from my 13 Pro Max but the upgrades have been so minor its not worth it, imo.

Hopefully the 17 will bring some new features worth upgrading to otherwise I'm still happy with my 13 Pro Max.

    • +2

As far as I can tell the only noticeable improvement on the last 4-5 generations of iPhone have been "a better camera".
Sure they can tout the latest chip with 'x' thousand % performance, but honestly how noticeable is that going to be for the average use case of a phone?
Unless your battery is not holding charge anymore that seems to be about the only motivation to "upgrade".

    • +1

You can forget lightning cables exist, which is nice.

  • Anyone have luck price beating at Officeworks in the last 10-15 minutes?

    • They are OOS. Won't PM.

    • +2

Call went through, they said they've ran out stock for all 1TB.

    • They are out of stock. Party over at Officeworks.

      • +8

After this price at Costco, the stocks will be back in Officeworks. They just want to hold on to their stocks.

        • Yes, I thought the same as I can still buy it online from officeworks website.

          • @IamHere2: Yeah definitely, they don’t want lose their stocks because of this price from Costco

  • -2

Officeworks did not price match as a price error…
    What a waste of time.

    Ordered from Costco instead.

    • +4

If you have an executive membership, that will earn you $38 to spend at Costco at end of year.

      • you can use gift card at OW

    • +1

      same here :(

    • Yes, some OW will use any BS excuse not to price match.

  • Can’t seem to order from Costco anymore

  • +1

Thanks OP. Just ordered from Costco. Not too bad with 2% rewards.

  • Good price

  • had few issues with colour, only one able to add to cart was white titanium

  • Thank you trump lmfaooo

  • +1

Only white available. Just bought 1

  • +1

Wow great price in comparison to the base model.

  • called ow; all out of stock.

    • just get it from costco

  • Managed to grab one with price beat from OW about 30 mins ago, cheers OP

    • Got one from OW as well. same 15mins ago

      • I think inner Melbourne is faring best, still available on their website with limit of 3

  • just got a back order instore for pick up tomorrow. paid with some discount home and coles myer gift card

    • from OW? do they price match it?

  • Got the white one from Costco. Switching from a 12 Pro Max 256GB from Sep 2020 so should be a fairly decent upgrade!

  • PB after walking down to my local officeworks where staff were happy to price match it. Also on a 12 PM so looking forward to it, pickup tomorrow. Yay, thanks OP!

    • +1

Just collected at OW. Still can't quite believe it.

  • Call OW said price error

  • Called OW,
They said its a pricing error and Costco has been informed about that.
Shows out of stock at Costco too.

    • White and Natural seem to be in stock atm

    • That's funny because it's still on their website with the same price, just out of stock. You would think if it had been a price error, they would have fixed it by now.

      • Still out of stock but price changed back to $2750 this morning.
Had kept checking the page hoping for a restock before the fixed the price but no go sadly :(

        • +1

If it was indeed a pricing error, it's a pretty bad one, not to mention the fact that they let it sit there with that price for three days before correcting it. If it really was some kind of flash sale, I'd love to know the reasoning behind it… surely they were making a loss on them at that price.

I can't help but wonder if Officeworks will stop pricematching Costco now. I'm still surprised they ever did it in the first place when you have to be a member to get the cheap price from Costco anyway.

I wonder how many people who ordered one actually got one.

          • @mitty: Yep I’m curious about all this as well. My 11 is dying and I need to upgrade, missed this deal by about 10 mins so super keen to know if something like this will repeat.

And yeah, leaving that price up for 3 days doesn’t feel like price error to me.

Page 3 of this post has people receiving them.

  • Go in store, they will do it!

Edit: I just came out of OW 5 mins ago without an issue.

  • Oos

    • White and Natural seem to be in stock atm

      • +2

        OOS :(
