Update
Just spoke to TPG and got them to bring the price down as per their price beat gurantee thanks very much for all your help everyone.
Cheers
Hello,
I am currently using a TPG plan ($79.99 (HFC)100/20 (Speed Boost) NBN) without a contract. I have a home phone set up with TPG due to working from home. However, next month, TPG will increase the price of the plan by $5, bringing it to $84.99 and reverting the NBN speed to 50/20. I am considering switching NBN providers but am unsure which one to choose. I am willing to pay between $79 and $84 and want to maintain the NBN speed of 100/20.
My current setup with TPG includes a Huawei HG658 router and a TP-Link Deco M5 Wi-Fi mesh router. I also still use a phone cable to connect my computer/landline phone to the Huawei HG658 router.
As I am not technically proficient, I have some questions:
- If I switch providers like ABB, Superloop, or Exetel, how long will the churning process take? Do I need to inform TPG of my intention to exit?
- If I terminate my service with TPG and no longer have the Huawei HG658 modem/router, can I use the TP-Link Deco M5 as a main router without purchasing another one? Please note that I will still require a phone connection and may need to run a cable from the router/modem due to work requirements.
- If I change providers, how can I ensure that the same Wi-Fi name and password are applied to all connected devices to avoid re-entering this information?
- Are there any other factors I should consider before making a switch?
- If the current TP Link router can’t be used, does anyone have a recommendation for a new router?
Any assistance with these questions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Let's me suggest you something, you don't need to stick with any nbn providers just for the landline or the landline number, use crazytel with $1/month and divert it your mobile and after 3 ringtones, can be added to other mobile numbers (misses/wife). Check on them if you can keep your landline number.
1. For me without the phone line, you just need to put the intention start date with other providers and process is seamlessly without noticing any downtime
2. Like suggestions above, when you separate the landline number, deco can be used and can get rid of the Huawei
3. SSID will remain same on Deco
4. You might need a slight change on the config as your deco WAN is now connected directly with the hfc
5. You're choosing the deco so you might not be a heavy user but more than home biz owner or wfh, i presume, so it's more than enough
