Saudia Airlines: SIN -> LHR $319 (May/June/July 2013 Certain Dates Only)

580

Amazing price for a trip from Singapore to London.

Only certain dates are available at the price of $319, couple this with a cheap fair with scoot or similar (~$200 or less) from Syd/GC etc and you're looking at a one way trip to London for $500 or less.

Dates which I found that are working are May 8th, 11th and the 18th. Some dates in June and July are showing up which is great considering mid year is usually pretty damn expensive.

  • This is amazing
combine it with a flight @ iscoot and your ready to go

The usual caveats apply. If you miss one leg due to industrial action/maintenance issues/weather/etc you'll automatically miss the next flight and not get any compensation. If everything goes right however (and it usually does) it's a very cheap way to get to Europe.

      • It's not that cheap is it? There are regular specials for around $1500 to Europe, right? It's about $5-600 to SIN so the total is similar IIRC.

        • $919 return is super-cheap

        • Like you said, regular specials are $1500 to Europe.
This is $919. About $600 cheaper.

          Scoot is $148 SYD->SIN and $130 SIN->SYD

      • i think real need to know this i had have been stuck Singapore before with no money and no way of get home. if u going to do this have 5.000 just in case.

    • +1

Connections are dreadful - Over 6 hours wait for connecting flight in Riyadh.

  • I can't find that cheap price you are saying.

    • Make sure you search one way, as stated it's only on certain dates so you need to look around May, June and July to find one that you would like to fly.

In May there appears to be the 8th, 11th and 18th, possibly others.

    • I couldn't find either using my iPad, but when I went to full site they appeared…. I was getting prices for 5500 , do they think ppl with iPads r loaded!

      • +1

Well you can afford an ipad…

Great prices! These are there other destinations in Europe:

    • Paris $321
    • Milan $321
    • Rome $321
    • Madrid $434

They also fly to geneva and frankfurt but I couldn't find any prices for those,

    • Awesome, that gives even more flexibility and opportunity :)

Thanks for the info. Looking like quite a good deal. Extremely saddened by the fact I probably can't go, hopefully some others can make use of this deal though.

      • You can add Istanbul for $321 to that list too! Too late to edit…

    • Hey Mae, where re you finding 312 for Paris. Is coming up as 5640 US for me for all most dates so far between may, jun,jul

  • great deal.

now just need the return component. best i can do around end of july 800 aud combination of pegasus to istanbul and malay to melb. anyone find anything better?

    • So you need Lon-Mel? $800 inc the outward flight?

      • yes. some major city in europe. and 800 just for the return leg.

        • What date you looking to leave, because I'm coming up with a return from SIN to IST for $575

    • I know Brunei airlines seems to have returns from mel to Brunei for 500 or so … Single from Brunei to melb might be half that if this gives any help…mbrune to Singapore would be sfa

Stopping in Saudi Arabia.. that kinda scares some people I think.

    • Most people wouldn't venture out of the airport as you'd only be changing planes there.

      • +4

        Saudis won't let u either

      • Even this is a scary proposition!

    • +3

I've been there. Nothing to be fareful of. Not like there's a terrorist waiting on every street Corning waiting for you… as like anywhere, the people a lively.

  • Amazing!! wish i could go :(

  • Worth doing a search on Saudi Airlines and the stopover airport before booking - not all Middle Eastern airlines are like Emirates. Still if you're willing to accept all that, this is a terrific price.

    • +1

Also bear in mind it's a 'dry' airline, so no booze…

      • +6

Not necessarily a bad thing. Diversions and delays due to drunk passengers causing havoc on flights are a regular occurance around the world.

        http://avherald.com/h?article=45701c05&opt=768

"Police reported the unrulies had consumed considerable amounts of alcohols and were considerably intoxicated already before boarding the aircraft and had consumed some more alcohol on board. One of them threw up during the flight and walked the aisle annoying other passengers, another one assaulted a flight attendant and the third engaged in a fist fight with a fourth companion trying to calm the three down."

        • +2

Apart from being a 'dry' airline, are these guys otherwise a decent airline to fly with? Anyone had any personal experiences?

On 12 November 1996 Charkhi Dadri mid-air collision, Saudi Arabian Airlines Flight 763 (SVA 763), a Boeing 747-168B en route from New Delhi, India, to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, collided in mid-air with Kazakhstan Airlines Flight 1907 (KZA 1907), an Ilyushin Il-76 en route from Shymkent, Kazakhstan to New Delhi, over the village of Charkhi Dadri, Haryana, India. All 349 people on board both flights were killed, making it the deadliest mid-air collision in history.

      Enjoy.

      • Singapore Airlines, one of the only 5 star rated airlines has had a fatal crash 4 years after Saudi's last fatal crash.

        What's your point?

        • None, wasn't expecting everyone to take my post so seriously. It was very lighthearted I assure you.

  • +6

I flew with Saudi Airlines before, it was fine.

Best to read a few reviews posted on Skytrax's website, so you get a better idea of this airline.

Can anyone find the luggage limits on the site?

  • +1

I guess there would be no booze on the flight?

  • +3

That's right, there is no booze and no pork. If you can live without it for 12hrs it's a great offer!

  • Went through to book the tickets and noticed that flights on 8th May are all stop overs at Saudi Arabia.

Anyone found dates with direct flights?

    • Nope, looks like they're all stopping at Saudi Arabia sorry mate.

  • +2

Just so people know, checking via kayak.com, you go from Singapore to Paris on the 01/05 then returning on 21/05 for $587, so this works out even cheaper.

Or Singapore to Istanbul return for just $536 on the same dates.

Use these with your scoot flights 30/04 - 23/05 $383 for a total price of $919

    • I only got $613 for those dates.

Emirates for $752. That's not bad either.

    • 2 stops on return flight? Total time for each leg is about 20 hours!
It's better to pay a little bit more with Emirates, better connection & A380.

      • Cattle class is cattle class, A380 or not.

Doesnt mean I travel in Business class

        • +5

Disagree. The A380 window seats upstairs have this storage box/handrest. Gives you extra room to lean into to sleep.

        • do they have economy on emirates on the upper deck? I know at sq they do have.

          http://www.emirates.com/au/english/flying/service_finder/sea…

        • Nope, upper deck on EK's A380 are business and first class seats only. The A380 is better due to the heigher ceiling and lesser engine noise. Economy seats are pretty much the same with every airline and airplane configuration though, although IFE is the best with Emirates.

        • .

        • shawn what airlines are you talking about?

  • These guys also have some super specials. i recently bought India-Cairo-Singapore for <$250AUD.

  • Any good deals to New york? good deal btw might down to london

  • -1

Haha, I booked this flight over 2 months ago and intended to put it up here but never got around to it! My brother and a couple of mates also booked this after i told them I was getting from Sydney to London for $500.

Just a note: I had heaps of problems trying to book via their website. Tried 3 different cards with no luck and even called their london office using Skype. In the end I had to book via Flyscoot.

    • Via flyscoot? Is this a typo, and do you mean another agent's site?
I have tried 5 cards over 2 days in 3 countries and nothing works so just gave up as its a sign of a not so great airline I reckon! Can't find the USD337 fare on any other sites though.

      • Sorry my bad! I booked the leg from Sydeny to Singapore via FlyScoot.com. But I booked the Singapore to London leg via www.bravofly.com. The Singapore to London flight cost me $334.

      • I called their London office and I think the problem was some sort of extra encryption that Europe use (3D Encryption I think). When I couldnt get my second card to work they asked if I cld just pop into their London office and pay them directly! haha, a bit too far to travel.

I had no probs booking via Bravofly though, wish I had thought of it earlier.

        • Thanks for the tips. Weird because I used 3 UK cards, 1 German card all with 3dsecure and none worked despite using this for years! Anyway will try bravofly, thanks again!

  • Before everyone rushes out to use Saudia, take a look at the latest airline safety ratings. Saudia came in at 55th place out of 60!

    http://www.theage.com.au/travel/travel-news/worlds-safest-ai…

    • I wouldn't read too much into that. The list doesn't even have Qantas in the top 10 which if you ignore all the politics and managerial bullshit that has been associated with the airline the past year or so, you'd know they are still far and away the safest airline having not had a single death on any of their aircraft from aircraft-related problems.
