Coles Shell Automatic Car Wash Options?

Hey all, haven't had to use these petrol station car wash for some time (since they stopped 2 wash for $14), but the options seems to be very small differences and when observing the actual wash I don't think there's any of difference at all!

My local Coles Shell has an Istobal M'NEX32. Upon heading in to buy the codes there's 5 options from simple wash to 'Ultimate Combi', which isn't found on
https://www.reddyexpress.com.au/services/car-wash
It was $40 for 2 washes. While queueing and watching the cars in front go thru with cheaper programs…and my most expensive option, the program seemed the same with exception mine had a 'high pressure wash'. The 'ceramic coat' was just 'wax' etc. ie. same as cheaper wash.

Anyone with more experience or staff that can share a light on what are the actual differences in wash program?

Thinking it's all just placebo for the expensive wash options?

Which ones do you use?

Yeah yeah, petrol station car wash are no where nearly as clean/thorough and damage the paint blah blah the discussion here is 'If I have to use one…which one to use'?

  • Do you have an IMO car wash nearby? They're miles better than any Coles or 7-Eleven car wash.

The main differences are additional sprays of wax etc that may or may not make a difference.

    • The difference of top 2 most expensive option were 'wax' vs 'ceramic' but from my observation (especially the display on the washing machine was the same 'wax'). So I actually think it's the same. Not to mention they are $10 for 2x difference in price (5 bucks more each time).

No IMO near me in Sydney (Hornsby).

Oh and the other thing was there wasn't much foam at all from when I last used (at a BP one). The display was 'Infinite Mousse' but it wasn't infinite nor foamy. Wondering if that is normal or just the station people not filling up the tank.

Don't be lazy. Just get some decent gear and wash it yourself. Then you know exactly what has and hasn't been applied.

    • Could be a bit of a trip with the wrong gear 🤔

If you have a car you care about, don't use an automatic carwash. Conversely if you have a car you don't care about, just leave it out in the rain.

Guys if you don't use the servo car washes and enjoy washing your car then all the more power to you, but it would be great if we stayed on topic?

Yes it would, but unfortunately this is OzBargain. Threads/Deals are posted and it can go off topic very quickly. Just read the Starlink deal I posted.

Thanks for the comment. Yeah didn't know the forums area of OZB are so toxic.

Thought we were a community interested to find bargains in every day stuff. Apparently the everyday approach is to not use car wash. Go figure.
