ATL on the Meross Smart Wifi Lamp! I use this one to create a more natural wake-up by triggering an automation to increase the brightness every 3 minutes, so by the time of my alarm it's already quite bright in the room. Works amazing for waking up and not being groggy in the morning, especially as we go into winter. Some competitors charge $200 for the same feature which is madness.

Can also be integrated with Apple Homekit/Google Home to create scenes (Leave Home, Movie mode, Goodnight for auto-off etc) with different colour temperatures.

  • Smart Home Life: Apple HomeKit Siri, Apple Watch, Carplay, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant compatibility let you control your Beside lamp absolutely hands-free with simple voice commands. Via Meross or Home APP, you can remote control the smart lamp from anywhere with internet access.

  • Best Companion: 2700-6500K tunable white, 16 million colors, adjust your table lamp from 1% to 100% brightness, choose from cool energizing lights, warm relaxing lights, night lights, and colorful mood lights to suit different occasions. Apple latest version supports color temperature.

  • Schedule and Timer: Create schedules, timer or countdown to light on/off your lamp automatically based on your routines, you also can group control several devices by setting scenes.

For the meross fanboys - I just got my hands on their new PIR/mmWave presence sensor that works with Matter. Hopefully it will discount soon but it's been super handy for room automation.

  • This essentially a better price hatch light?

    • That's right, just without the sound. But the brightness adjustments still work great.

Re: the presence sensor, currently there is a launch promo on Amazon for $48.99: $21 off $69.99 retail.

    • That's the one! It's fantastic because it's dual-sensor. The PIR is almost instant and activates the mmWave sensor which will remain on until activity becomes dormant. Works really well together.

      • Don't have a matter Hub, sad.

The old Ikea motion sensors are a bit shit, lights turn off in the kitchen if I'm not moving about. Cats also trigger the lights at night walking on the floor.

Have a Raspberry Pi? Home Assistant has a built in add-on that can act as a Matter OpenRouter Hub.

You can then pair it with other eco-systems too like Google Home/Zigbee etc.

          • @JSONBourne: Oh yeah? I do, that's great. Does it need a dongle like zigbee or it all happens on hardware?

@blazerunner: You can read more here - https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/matter/

But Matter runs over Ethernet and Wifi, so a stock Raspberry Pi should be fine. You then use the HomeAssistant software to have both a Zigbee and HomeAssistant hub and act as a layer above to let them talk to each other. It works great.

For Zigbee support though you need a dongle but they only cost about $25. Dongles are also cross-compatible, I run IKEA, Aqara, Sonoff and Tuya Zigbee devices all off the same dongle. No proprietary hubs are needed anymore.

              • @JSONBourne: Thanks for the info 🙌

                • @blazerunner: All good! Setting up Zigbee in HOAS has a few steps involved but plenty of tutorials on YouTube.

Also Zigbee doesn't play nice with USB3 ports. Plug into USB 2.0, and use an extension cord to get it 2m away from USB3.0 ports to improve reception. Raspberry Pi's don't have great shielding on USB 3.0.

You can also get the larger Meross lamps for $48.97 …. 30% off. https://www.amazon.com.au/meross-Dimmable-Assistant-SmartThi…

I also get an Amazon offer for a $5 coupon if I spend $59.

I have a few of these and am happy to recommend them. But one small niggle. If the power is cut and then restored some turn on automatically, others don't. No setting that I could find to change this.
