199 for the small unit (http://www.esold.com.au/hotpoint-2-95kw-10000-btu-portable-a…) seem to be very competitive. cheers

  • Same price at Nightingaleelectrics $200 Free pickup from Altona (Vic) or $22 shipping. Not too sure about that site.

    • Hi Neil, They don't have the (14,000 BTU) Portable Air Conditioner) we have both. and we are $1 cheaper as well :)

I thought hotpoint went into administration? Does that cause issues with warranty/parts?

There was a lot to be learnt about eSOLD and their lack of respect for basic customer relations (eg. breaching their own privacy policy) when they last tried to sell these air conditioners on here (unfortunately the deal was unpublished so you can't read sorry)

All I'll say is buyer beware.

    • I'll just quickly sum up that thread.

While the first few comments were useful discussion about air conditioning the numerous others after were about an issue between a customer and esold.

Looks like eSOLD has been trolled and they took the bite by legal threat. The other parties aren't faultless either with ghost accounts voting up each other's comments and voting down eSOLD's comments, and history of trolling & personal attacks here.

      I'll leave it at that.

        Good summary Neil.

Please note: these are very crappy, low-grade units with dubious if any warranty support. There was some discussion earlier that Hotpoint may have folded as a company and 10,000 BTUs is pretty much pissing in the ocean on a 40c day with a portable, if they even make that output.
If you want a portable that actually works IE can actually cool your lounge room, then get yourself either a NoboCool or an Olimpia Pui, second hand is probably better than either of these as they have 3 and 5 year warranties. Those are pretty much the only two that actually work given all the relevant factors.

    Issue discussed in depth here:

  • Damien - (REP) - do you have any more of the more powerful hotpoint aircons that esold was selling?
I would certainly buy another one of those if there was one available…

    • Sorry, I wish we had more :)

  • Don't buy any Hotpoint Air Cons. The company went broke a while ago so warranty/parts would be a major issue with these units.

The JHS unit was manufactured back in 2008 (again the original local supplier of these doesn't exist any longer), why would you buy a 5 year old air con unit at this price? MADNESS!!!

    • -1

The Hotpoints are covered 100%, any issue we will swap over if stock is available or refund if not within the 12 month period, no problem.

The JHS are still manufactured from the factory in Dongguan China as of now, not sure where you got this information from, its not correct. http://www.jhs8.com/ProductsView.Asp?id=108 - they are also covered by a 12 month Australia wide warranty handled by AWA.

12 months is not enough to fulfill your legal obligation, an air conditioner unit should last years. Do you usually force people to lodge fair trading complaints against you to get stuff fixed if it breaks outside the manufacturer warranty?
