An awesome price on what's easily one of the best value CPUs for gaming that you can buy right now. Especially when you consider that local stores like Centre Com sell it for A$755 thanks to the "Australia tax" added onto computer parts here. While other regions like the US and China have it much cheaper. You can stack the deal with upsized cashback for further savings.

This one features 8 cores, 16 threads, base clock of 4.2GHz, boost clock of 5.0GHz, 120W TDP, AM5 socket and most importantly the massive 96MB of L3 Cache making it ideal for gaming.

  • Apply the coupon OZAU100 or AUA100 at checkout

The store has plenty of good reviews and since this product is marked as Big Save you're eligible for free returns in 90 days and easy refunds if the package is lost, damaged or no delivery in 30 business days.

AU$ based on current Mastercard rate and GST inclusive.

For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate depending on the card.

@VishSunny @Meteor Anarcom since SZCPU decided not to be part of the sale.

  • Nice.

Hopefully some more cheap AM4 x3d deals pop up!

    • +5

There hasn't been any for a few months. We cleaned all the stores out pretty well.

      • +1

        Yeah I'm coping lol.

  • Unable to apply promo code. The total after discount (excl. shipping) doesn't meet the minimum purchase amount.

What am I doing wrong sir

  • What is the best cashback offer for this?

    • +2

Shopback will do 20% with a $50 cap.

      • Do I have to order it on a computer or does it track through the app?

        • App is fine.

  • +6

Might be a good idea to get cashback through TCB US because they don't have a cap on the purchase. I can confirm that I ordered this same product through there and got the full 24% before shipping+taxes and everything tracked. This was $74.73 USD for me.

    • Is there anything stopping Australians using this? If not do I need a separate tcb account?

      • Not that I am aware of. You are only limited in your withdrawal options, with PayPal being the best option to withdraw to if you have that.

Yes you will need to make an account separate to TCB AU. They are not connected at all other than name.

      • +1

Make sure you follow the sneaky conditions it has on the page.

'You must start with an empty basket before clicking through to the retailer.'

I would also recommend turning off your ad blocker before you do this as it most likely could block the tracking

        • Yes I have done the whole cashback thing before including recording my screen but yeah I'm still a bit worried because it does say that you can't use coupons not allowed by the site but it doesn't list what ones. It doesn't have that condition for shopback

          • @HaydosK: I think TCB has that generic disclaimer under all their stores, but I know AliExpress for a fact will 99/100 times track if you use the sale coupons they have. Like I said, mine did track properly so you should be fine assuming you followed all the steps correctly.

    • I just ordered through TCB US and the tracking doesn't appear to be instantaneous for me like it was with TCB AU. Will update later I guess.

      • Mine took about an hour from the order confirmation to track.

        • Still haven't got it tracked

      • +2

Updating here to say it tracked. 74.73 USD apparently which is crazy.

        • Just wondering is the 50% New customer purchase cash back not applicable and it just defaults to the 24% TCB one?

    • Cheers mate, can confirm this worked for me, took about 2 hrs to track after purchase.

    • Do you convert the cashback to AUD or leave it in USD?

    • was your aliexpress account new? I only got $25 usd tracked..

      • +1

The cashback is only 8% now so I think you missed the bus.

  • Is this a cheaper version from the same seller or am I missing something? https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005008494711375.html

    • +1

Codes won't apply on that listing so it's more expensive.

  • "Sorry, the coupon code you entered is based on a first come first served basis and has been used up by other shoppers. Please enter a different coupon code or explore other discounts on AliExpress."

    • I still got the coupon working fine, Have to checkout using USD though

  • Omg it's asking me to buy in app while on mobile. Desktop mode doesn't work either.
Screw this new world we live in

    • Yeah I had to do it on my PC and make sure you put it in USD with location set to Australia because it can overwrite it.

  • Seems like it's not going to hit the 430 ATL we had awhile ago.

    • +1

Prices shot up mid last year. Rumoured to be caused by AMD as they want people to buy the 9000 series.

  • -4

What I don't understand is why people are buying good CPU's and $1000+ midrange GPU's? to play what exactly? there is nothing really out there that is pushing the technical side very hard or just in general worth upgrading for. Majority of the most played games on steam are years old at this point.

    • +2

And does this list on Steam tell you that they're all using this CPU with midrange GPUs?

      • What? I am saying that it is baffling that people are spending so much on PC hardware for gaming when there really isn't much out there that even takes advantage of it.

        • Based on 'the most played games on steam that are a few years old' ….

Just because the most played games are older that doesn’t mean that’s all people play.

        • +1

Well anecdotally I play everything at 4k maxed out and can't hit the refresh rate on my 240Hz monitor in a lot of games new or old.

          Playing BF4 currently I'm sitting at about 110-140fps, with 5070ti and 9600x.

So there absolutely is easy ways to not hit the frames you want, yes even on years old games.
Then again, there's the buttery smooth ones which constantly hit 240+ and they are a fun time…!

The amount of frames you want is a different discussion. Most could/should/would be happy with 60fps I suppose.

    • +2

Its much easier to just have a set-and-forget CPU that will last a long time, and install a new GPU whenever you want to upgrade.

    • +1

I imagine a significant percentage of people who buy top tier products are either enthusiasts who already know what they are getting themselves into, or people who just want the best and they have the money for it. Same goes for any hobby or product. It's pointless asking someone with a Camaro why they even bother driving it if the speed limit is mostly 50 or 60. Or a photographer bothers with a Sony Alpha when their phone camera captures the gist of their subject good enough and is basically free with the phone.

People who know, know. People who care, care. And those who can buy, buy.

  • got one. cant say no. with Cashback. Hopefully it tracks!
    Thanks for the post

  • Anyone else getting the message saying you haven't met the minimum requirement? Way round it?

    • +1

change aliexpres to USD. then coupon works

  • Amazing price and brilliant processor.

  • any deals on 9800x3d?

    • Will be there. Price for OEM ones backed to original MSRP and even lower

      • Will be on aliexpress, or will be coming in general. I am still holding out for a price decrease, as they are all at 900 still.

  • Opinions regarding this deal or end up with the 9800x3d?

I'm leaning towards the 9800x3d due to wanting to keep it for a long time.

    • +5

I got the 7800x3d through this deal today but I was in same boat as you, and was pretty much sold on the 9800x3d but only because normally the 7800x3d is only about $150 cheaper than 9800x3d

However due to this deal bringing 7800x3d back down to a reasonable price.. it's hard to spend an extra $350 or so for the 9800xd.

I think either one will future proof for a long while.

  • What mobo would be your choice for this?
