    • Ooft. Forgot to sort by date 😅.
      Will fix.

  • Wish this price is for 17 attachments version

    • +1

Here I was thinking 15 attachments is hectic :D
I love a good click wheel adjuster, I rarely see myself utilising the rest.

      • if 17, i want to price match with JB and then use my giftcards for extra savings

    • I'm already wondering what the 15 functions this one offers could possibly be!

  • +3

I bought one on the previous deal, and I'm pretty happy. It feels higher quality with an easier cut than my previous Wahl li-ion multi trimmer, where I had to make multiple passes to get some parts of my beard.

I did nick my ear though (I'm old and grow hair in weird places, OK), which is a first for me using a trimmer. Based on that I won't bring it anywhere close to my nether regions with just the bare blade.

    • At my age, I don't care!

  • +2

For anyone planning on using this on their nether-regions… don't. There's a much better alternative in the Panasonic ER-GK80-S (or cheaper variant, ER-GK60-S).

I had been using "regular" hair trimmers down there, for years, until I found Panasonic. Wonderful device.

  • From the pictures I see that it comes with an adjustable comb with numbers labeled from 1.0 to 3.0. Is that in millimetres? In the description they don't mention it cutting longer than 2 millimetres.

Does anyone who's bought this before know what length the longest comb attachment is?

    • I don't, but I recommend against anything adjustable. They're notorious for slipping, causing haircuts that look very… French

  • Good deal OP!

If you're looking for a "cheaper" beard trimmer for home use, this will work fine.

If you are a bit precious about your beard, then consider whether you want to spend a bit more on a more "sturdy" trimmer — I got a Babyliss pro for about $200 off Amazon and it is still one of my favourite purchases. But then I probably spend too much time caring for my beard.

    • Interesting. Always love a "one of my favourite purchases" recommendation.

I say that about my Wahl Clippers (for my hair), just really hard to convey how much of a pleasure they are to use, how much the 3x price over a no name feels like a 30x step up in quality, how much money I've saved over MANY years by having em etc etc. When my current 'facial' one dies, I'll have a look at BaByliss.

  • This or manscaped? i have the older lawnmower 4.0 and it was good until it wasnt haha

  • is this recommend for trimming around the ears and back of neck or a bit of overkill?

  • Can anyone suggest a quality nose and ear trimmer? The online reviews for some of these are Chinese made ones are horrible I.e. "Stopped working after 3 months" "rips my nose hairs out".

I've got a Wahl V7000 clippers for hair, goes to about blade # 1/2

Anyone know if these beard trimmers could go closer for fades? Obviously can take the gauge off either one but it's not the nicest.
The tri-shavers are too close to use for the back and sides of hair.

Most of the attachments go to waste on all of these and sit in the box but should be something that bridges the gap between clippers and trimmers for fades.

    • If you're serious about doing a fade, you can buy Wahl attachments online in all different lengths.

If you want to get really close for the edges, then switch to a foil razor (eg like this one, but there are lots of cheaper alternatives online)

      • Yes I've bought replacement attachments (they don't last forever) but haven't seen any shorter than 1/2. So you can just use no attachment and regulate the length but isn't that good. Anything longer than blade 1 is very long for me.

You may be onto something there, need some more specialist ones like that not just beard trimmers (which wouldn't go any closer really).

Don't need anything too fancy and can only do an average job on yourself ha.

        • Ah I see what you mean now.
With something like the v7000, once you get below a 1/2 clipper attachment, you're meant to use the adjuster on the side of the clippers to regulate the cutting length, in conjunction with the angle of your hand when you cut.

Ie, you should be able to go from 1/2 to a 1/4, and then to an 1/8th, and then to skin-fade ("0"), just using the side adjuster.

But to get closer ("00", "000"), that's when you start using the foil razor.

The numbers are somewhat meaningless as every clipper is different. But the point is that you don't really need an attachment less than 1/2.

          • @bangiebargie:

Exactly, that's what I do, with the 1/2 attachment or bare steel (no attachment). It's just nicer using it with an attachment.

Will have a look at that foil razor, let me know if you know of a good cheap one. Will check out shaver shop too. Cheers

Edit: BaByliss pro double foil around $200 looks good.
Just comparing single vs double. Both solid, double more versatile and can charge with a cord.

            • +1

@G-rig: I don't know about cheap foil razors, but if you can afford it, the BaBylisspRO UVFOIL is great. Double is worthwhile if you're doing fades. Currently around $200 on Amazon I use mine daily.

              • @bangiebargie: Agree, since buying the v7000 whal it's better not to skimp on this stuff.

I think I'll get the BabylissPRO Double foil razor (silver one) locally, they can Price beat so should come under $200. Will check out that model too though. Additional USB C only on the UV so that solves that.
