Is there any reason to get this over something like the super flower?

Not sure which Super Flower PSU you mean, but the current-gen RMx's have lower noise levels than most peers. The fan low-speed customization and fan failure protection are also nice-to-haves that are relatively uncommon.

On a day-to-day basis the average user is unlikely to perceive a difference compared to some of the cheaper (but still well-performing) alternatives though.

They have higher watt psus around the same price on PC case gear with the same ATX 3.1 and 80 plus gold. For example https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/873981

Unfortunately without reviews it's hard to know how well they perform (though given who made them I doubt they're straight-up bad) or what the noise levels are like :(

Comments in that thread suggest lower quality components, but once you get into "good" territory it's not necessarily clear to the average use case how much that matters.

          • @MHLoppy: Super flower is one of the best PSU makers from what I have heard and also apparently made many psus for other brands so I trust them. Surely there is a reason this is around the same price.

          • @MHLoppy: Super Flower is predominately an OEM manufacturer. In addition to selling under their own name, they manufacture PSU's for EVGA and others. An OEM I was working for in the mid 90's imported their PSU's directly and we had a very low failure rate. It would appear that their reputation has only increased since then.

    • This is time-tested and a sure thing. I've powered dual RTX 3090s off mine with continuous loads.

      • With an 850W PSU?

        • Yes, though I've throttled the power limit to 290 watts for these cards as anyone should because CUDA performance is still about 92%.

  • I dont see $169.15 price when I click on deal, I see there are two options to pick from and lowest one is $215.00. Am I missing anything?
