GL.iNet Flint 2 or Asus TUF-AX6000 Wireless Router?

hi guys,

thinking to upgrade my router. Budget around 250. Which one would you choose? Both Openwrt compatible.

  • Flint 2 without a doubt. Note the flint 3 is schedules for release April-June.

  • Personally I would wait for the Flint 3 release, however the Flint2 is excellent and you should see some pretty good price drops leading up to and after the Flint3 release.

  • Flint 2 is 20% off at Amazon this morning. I just picked one up. Openwrt may not be supported in the upcoming flint 3 but nothing confirmed AFAIK.

  • Can the GL.inet devices do a mesh, like Asus routers can? Can't seem to work out what they offer in that space.

  • +1

Depends how much of a 'power user' you are. If you're planning to install OpenWRT then maybe the GL.inet - if you're more of a 'savy home user' then the ease of the ASUS software is pretty nice, as is their aimesh extensibility.

  • Very happy with the Flint2. Only issue was Adguard crashing recently, a quick google pointed me towards an ssh command to update it. I also changed to some more compact blocklists just in case it was a RAM issue.

  • just get a gen 3 telstra smart modem

  • I picked up the Tuf AX6000 for $75 off marketplace,

Absolute powerhouse (i don't want to mess around with the firmware).
