I did not know Aiwa is still a thing!

In Arabic, "aiwa" (أيوا) or "aye" (إيه) is a common way to say "yes" or "yeah"

      • Aiwa but that's how Egyptians say it.

      • Thanks, learned something today.

Easy to remember too, like Scottish “aye captain” = “Yes captain.”

      • I thought Na'am was yes… What's the difference?
Anyway Aiwa used to be a great Japanese brand in the 80's

      • I heard the story when I was really young, the company wanted to show its origin but can't name it like that so they truncated the first and last character of "Taiwan" and made it "aiwa".

    • Me too! Teac are still kicking too.

Other than the brand name I'm sure they are nothing to do with the old Japanese company.

    Reviews say stuff like
    - cant use ps5 on it (hdcp issues)
    - software out of service - no updates available
    - 350lu means you can’t use it during the day

The price is tempting but my gut feel is it’ll be more problems than it’s worth

    • Came here to say the same

Came here to also say the same.

@Dealr: Came here to say the same

          • @Dealr: Yes but to improve your spelling, just remember the rule: 'u before n, except after pea'.

The sale is over. The date is on the bottom of the ticket, and you can see it full price online.

Pretty sure they have to honour the ticketed price at Big W. Same thing happened to me at Coles expect I got my product for free as it’s their policy

No they don't, and this isn't a banana

      • It wasn’t a food item it was a Coles special buy item where they sell merchandise. And yes if it’s label incorrectly Big W or Woolies you get the product free or at reduced price:

we confirm our standard practice that, if the scanned price of an item is greater than the shelf price, the customer is entitled to receive that item free of charge. Woolworths Group

        • Sorry JBS you're full of meat (maybe baloney). That policy has a maximum value of about $50.

  • Seems like it's an unusable product based on the software being completely out of date. The fact that they're still selling this thing warrants a neg from me.

    • It'd be like having a TV dongle that stopped working due to an expired certificate. Not that that would ever happen, would it Google?

You would need to use a fire stick or similar i guess to make this usable.

      • You would need a miracle to make this usable.

My first walkman was an aiwa … it had pretty good bass, netter than the more expensive sony 'megabass'
