Get ready for everything to be more pay to win.

You'll need walking subscription for adventure sync, lucky eggs and stardust becomes $$$ gold eggs and gold startdust, pay to spin pokestops, pay to battle gyms, daily pokeball throw limits, daily evolution limits, pay a monthly subscription to be able to catch shinies, weather boosts require a weather access pass, paywalled revives… how am I doing?

    • I don't know if you've gone far enough? Not only is it pay to win, the money maker of Niantic is the data. Where do you walk, where do you stop, what are you doing at what location. And its not just adults geo data but kids data too.

I think this is the final realisation of the value of that data. Selling it all to Scopely.

  • hope is the key word,

hope they don't shaft too many free 2 play players of the game like little kids, but unlikely,

  • Interesting that they're keeping Ingress

Pokemon Go went down the toilet years ago. Just became a system to milk whales for as much money as possible. Became unfun for the average payer with all the pay to play events, glitches and server errors and the increase in grinding needed to get anwhere.

Was it not widely known that it had always been about the data?

The whole purpose was to get the data to create a Google Maps competitor. That’s why rare Pokemon were where they were, the more people that went there, the more gaps they could fill in their mapping system.

While Niantic have chosen to go a different way in their mapping journey, their goal to map the world is still worth something to others.
