        • Yeah sock-pup-ET - I thought it was clever :P

Anyway, the OP was actually replying to the top comment, not me.

    Thanks I have order one

Not a bad price, may not be the strongest but it will be 100 times stronger than the cable locks.

It still amazes me that i see many people in Perth use cheap cable locks to secure their bikes that could be cut with wire cutter in 5 seconds.

    • -2

      Rockbros have a good reputation.

Cable locks have there purpose, people just use them wrong!

    • +1

I used to think cable locks were fine for Australia, and then while at the bike shop a guy glumly came in after having his bike stolen outside the Westfield after thieves snipped his cable lock.

I'm not sure about Rockbros quality for locks.I've seen almost no reviews of their locks or any of their other products. Odd since it's a reasonably prominent Chinese cycling goods brand that has slightly more assurance than the anonymous ones on AliExpress, so was happy to buy their pannier bags.

      • I have the Abus one. Its good but heavy. About $200

    • But this could just as easily be cut with a cordless grinder with a cutoff wheel. Don't bet on your stuff being safe.

      • Not quite….

Thank you. I ordered 2x of the heavy duty model for the same price. Store coupon for buying 2x + the ebay MCBT20 code. Paid $46.80 for two.

A nice looking U lock that doesn't look like any other U lock.

    • Just did the same for my e-scooter. Cheers mate!

    • They have relisted for $68.19 each… wth

Are these good to secure an electric scooter?

    • I ordered one for my eScooter, I will let you know! We have cheap cable locks and I've been told (including in this forum) they're useless. This was a good excuse to grab something better and try a little harder to avoid them being pinched.

With that said I'm curious how they'll go as the cable ones have an advantage. We usually stack our eScooters together then take two cable locks and stretch & wrap them around the eScooters and the bike rack. Distance to the secure point (usually a bike rack) is forgiving it's not always possible to be hard up against something. Also even if cut it'd take a few more moments to simply untangle the things!

Maybe I'll use both. Owning an eScooter is so much fun but it is a bit of a bummer they're such hot targets.

    • I carry 2 locks on my escooter a Ulock goes through the front wheel onto a fixed object like a bike rail + this on the back brake disc https://www.amxsuperstores.com.au/products/kovix-alarmed-dis…

Even then I would not leave it out of my sight in Melbourne.

      • Yeah agree lots of anxiety. This scooter will be locked up at school so I'm hoping a dlock will suffice as it's not entirely a public place

        • A D-lock is not sufficient. A battery powered angle grinder will have it gone in 30 seconds, ask me how I know.

          • @jmc787: I have no doubt. However in reality nothing is sufficient, especially when faced with an angle grinder.

            • @bboz: Yes but assuming your eScooter cost more than $22 I'd consider spending a lot more than $22 securing it. This one cost me about $80 for example https://ibb.co/39ZZK6zm

    • Secure yes, anti thief no. They cut those D locks ,even the best one like Kryptonite like butter with their powers tools

    • +1

Yeah, but I'd pay $5 more to have it from local stock

      • +3

How do you know they won't just dropship? Btw, I got my price wrong, $18.40+GST=$20.24 so not much diff.

  • I currently have a Kryptonite D-Locks, how do these compare?

    • +7

      Superman prefers these.

    • They both provide some protection but both are still vulnerable to electric angle grinders. The Hiplok and Litelok are the newer versions resistant to these attacks

  • I have one of these, ordered from Aliexpress. They make an excellent overkill lock to lock one wheel to the frame.

  • While these are better than a cable lock, it is a bad design.
Having the lock part stick out like that presents an easy attack vector. It also is very visible and screams out to thieves "I'm easy to break".
Brand-name bike locks have not been made like that in decades.

You want a U-lock with a double-locking shackle (both ends secured) and a hidden mechanism.

  • Any suggested alternatives?

  • +1

I think expired on the heavy duty as code not working. When i try to add standard to cart it's $26 with code. Did they increase price?

  • +3

Yeah get a proper lock please. My top 2 is abus x540 granit and onguard rocksolid 8590

    • Kryptonite NYC range are solid too.

    • Plus 40 seconds on the angle grinder vs conventional d lock

      • the onguard might be a different case - look it up. single use coating wears down angle grinder disc

I ordered X2 of the heavy duty and now they are trying to cancel it saying OOS :(

    • +3

      Same. Dodgybros.

    • +1

Yep I tried ordering a heavy duty too and they're trying the same thing

      • +1

Update: despite repeat pressure for me to cancel, I said I'd prefer to wait until new stock came in and they said okay. We'll see how we go!

    • +2

I’m in the same boat. Very dodgy as they actually have second listing of the same heavy duty lock but being sent from China. It’s also listed as in stock on their website.

    • Same here, ordered 2 x heavy duty and they're saying "…while picking, we realized that the product you purchased is out of stock". dodgy

      • +1

update: repeated messages to accept refund, exchange to different style (w/gift) etc, I repeatedly said "thanks for all the offers, I want my goods as ordered, there is clearly stock available and I'll accept a delay". Latest is stock expected next week…let's see

    • +7

      Classic bait and switch:

"Or do you accept to change to another style? If the exchange is acceptable, we will send you a small gift as compensation. Or if you have any other preference, you can let me know and I can go and help you find the right product~."

    • ordered cancelled too :(

    • Did they claim "Buyer asked to cancel" in the reason for cancellation field?

  • Price has been increased

Someone make a lock with hydraulic dye inside a sleeve, and a wire for an alarm.

If you cut it…boom (covered in shite) and siren !

    • +1

      Skunklock has one like that

      • Well thats a deal then.

Add a squillion volts capacitor to the equation (like a defibrillator)…insulate it. Cut through the insulation….ZAPPPPP….. dye…..siren…
