Upgrading from RTX 3070 to RTX 5070 Ti - Worth It?

Hey all,

I'm thinking about upgrading my PC. My current setup is from 2021 with an RTX 3070, but I'm leaning towards buying a pre-built PC with a 5070 Ti. It's much more budget-friendly compared to the 5080/5090 and seems like a solid option.

I found this one: RTX 5070 Ti Gaming PC (https://www.umart.com.au/product/g9-intel-i9-12900ks-geforce…). The 5070 Ti supports 1440p and DLSS 4, though its 12GB VRAM might be a limiting factor in some future titles. That said, I'm mainly playing Forza Horizon 3 and Street Fighter 6, so I feel like it should hold up well, especially compared to my current setup.

Would this be a good buy, or would a custom build give me better value in the long run?

I'd really appreciate any advice! Thanks in advance!

Objectively speaking, the 9070 XT offers much better value when it comes to raster performance than the 5070 Ti - are you planning to play games with heavy RT workloads or doing other productivity stuff? Do you need any specific features that NVIDIA cards offer?

And the 5070 Ti has 16GB VRAM, not 12GB.

Are there games you’re playing or looking to play that will struggle with the 3070?

  • I'm still using a 1070 and feel like that's plenty for the games you mentioned, and I can play pretty much any modern game at the moment without issue. Not sure why you feel the need to upgrade at all.

Do you really need to upgrade playing those types of games ?
