TCL 85" C845 4K UHD Mini LED QLED Google TV (2023) $2,241 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

310

I was surprised to see stock of the C845 and for a pretty decent price. I think you should be able to get it down to 2k (or possibly less) depending on how desperate they are to clear it.

If I'm reading the respective product pages correctly (85" C855, 85" C845), the C855 has a little over 2.5x the number of dimming zones (2304 vs 896) and 1.75x the peak brightness (3500 nits vs 2000 nits). Though I'm not sure how much of a difference peak brightness makes in reality. The extra $530 might be worth it if you want to get closer to OLED level blacks.

Enormous. It's the difference from being a shut-in cinephile to being able to live life with windows open, and watch things on weekends, on your days off, with the blinds up.

At night retina searing HDR that can make you wince is nice sometimes, you can always turn it down.

It's the first panel with "dimming zones" I've seen that has no noticeable blooming around small features, even subtitles, too. Love it.

I own the C845, C755 and C855. I run these tvs at 20 brightness. they are ALL amazing. You dont have to go and get the latest model only do it if you can afford it

  • I purchased this tv from JB during black friday 2023, paid $2264 with 15% off tcn vouchers. Great TV for the price and would purchase again .

Math-debating with friends. What a great group activity. I prefer words to numbers and one on one. Makes me a cunning linguist.

Please double check prices across these stores, often JB is only slightly more expensive than Harvey Norman. These were the cheapest prices at the time of collation.

remember every tv other than sony use blue light backlit so you won't get the warm or cinematic pleasing to the eye with anything other than sony.

    • +1

      What about an OLED?

    • If you are getting eye strain with your existing tv, you can add a faint warm coloured led light strip or some warm night light behind the tv.

Haven't owned a Sony in years, but I do know their colour processing is brilliant.

Remember that this comment is unmitigated horse shit.

      • cleary this person has never owned a sony.

    • The best kind of backlight is RGB LED, but I don't know if any TVs use this?

Wouldn’t the Hisense u7 or u8 be better than this

      • Yeah Nah.

Someone bought a TCL and now lives with regret
          :(

          • +1

@YdoUh8muny: You'll regret more if you're on Hisense - their Google/Android TV sucks (especially HDMI 2.1 features implementation like VRR, ALLM, etc.) and barely got updated, and VIDAA is very limited if you want more than what's in their app store.

In comparison TCL is better. In comparison
