Apple AirPods Pro 2 Earphones from Facebook Marketplace

Hi there, marketplace is flooded with them.

Question is, is there a real simple way to tell if they are fake or legit?

I really dont want to end up with a fake pair, and would like to know how i can check this out.

    1. Check the Serial Number: Look for the serial number inside the lid of the AirPods case. You can then enter this serial number on Apple's Check Coverage page to verify if it's genuine.
    2. Examine the Case and Buds: Pay attention to the sound, light, lanyard hook, material, and weight of the case. For the buds, check the font, flushness, weight, and ear tips](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_jUsb4GTVo).
    3. Test the Features: Pair the AirPods with your iPhone and test the connection, noise control, Siri, sound quality, and the "Find My" app](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_jUsb4GTVo).

Many Apple AirPods Pro 2 listings on Facebook Marketplace are scams. Wait for a deal from Costco, Amazon AU, Officeworks.

  • Check out the Reptronic subs on Reddit. They’ve got plenty of guides

  • They are 100% fake

  • Loads of people selling bargain “unwanted gifts” in my local community Facebook groups. They tend to have 1-2 star ratings, which is enough of a tell. Often they also have receipts, which I assume are fake.

Either they’re just gonna steal your cash, sell you fake products, or sell you stolen merch.

    Not worth it.

Great thanks all - decided to get a new pair instead.
Not worth the saving (even if its over half the price)

    • Why would you want something in your ear that has been in someone else's sweaty disgusting ear.

  • I once had a legit pair of AirPods that I was selling on Gumtree, provided a redacted invoice in the images, the next day I find another listing which was using my exact invoice haha

  • Do not trust the serial number and receipts, if the deal is too good to be true it usually is, don't ask me how I know :(

I got burned by like a 14-year-old kid who looked shady asf and asked me to meet me at the park, had 5 of his mates kinda watching from distance too, only thing I checked was the serial number which showed up legit on Apple's website.

Got them, they were def fake, reported to apple by call, chat multiple times to block that serial number so other people won't get burned but that same serial number was up in their system for next 6 months plus and I stopped keeping track of that after.

They basically mass produce thousands of them with same serial number which gets sold worldwide by scammers.

I've been burned on multiple things but still haven't learned my lesson, I basically grew up in Canberra and moved to Vic just few years ago, I've never had a single bad experience of buying/selling in Canberra, but Vic seems to be full of Scams.

There were a few deals on just buy from a reputable store. There are gift cards available to get a further 10% off

I have them and I think the standard AirPod 4 are just as good. I don’t think it’s worth the extra.

But if you Havnt tried the difference then buy from Apple so you can return them if needed
