Herman Miller Aeron $990 at Living Edge until End Jan 2013

460

Similar to last year's offer: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/61634

I believe that the regular price is still around $1.4k, so while $990 may be a little expensive for a computer chair, it's a good discount. And it comes with 12 years warranty, that's a lot of comfortable OzBargain computer time :)

There are different specs and options for the Aeron, and tension on Whirlpool confirmed that this price was for full spec with standard base: http://whrl.pl/Rdqb1Y

Looking forward to go try it out!

My previous company forked out for 1000 of these chairs in their head office. I would usually not even consider a $990 chair but after having one for 5 years, I can vouch for the fact they are very impressive. Now, can I talk my new company in buying me one for work?

  • +2

Just bought one on this sale (waited 6 months for this sale). Comfortable and worth it if you're thinking long term investment.

When I was fitting out my office a few years ago, I was considering either the Aeron or the Formway/Knoll Life Chair (which also retails for over $1K in Australia). I happened to luck out and find about 50 brand new Life Chairs at a liquidation auction, where they went for ~$200 each — I didn't buy all of them, but the few I bought still saved me a few grand!

Just another option out there for people looking for a quality office chair which many people regard as at least as good as the Aeron — the Life Chair doesn't have anywhere near the name recogniton of the Aeron, and can be picked up relatively cheaply at auction on occasion (either new or second hand).

    • Good info. thanks.

    • I have a LIFE chair at work and I gotta say.. it's DAMN GOOD!

Where are these auctions you speak of? I'd love to grab one for home..

    • where was this liquidaton you went to?

  • +3

    OMG i freaking love you.
I have been waiting for this sale forever, there are aeron chairs where I work and my god are they better than the leather crap they sell at officeworks.
Guess you get what you paid for.
I will be getting one first thing next year, can't wait.

    • hmm maybe it's time to replace my trusty 5yo $50 office works chair.
I'll check them out when they open, thanks OP.

          Worst follow up line?

  • Do these come flat packed? Reckon i coukd fit one of these in a sedan?

    • It's not.

    • +1

I don't have one (yet), but fom what I understand, no, and no.

    • Mine arrived fully assembled. They recommend keeping the package upright, so you'd need a trailer. It's also pretty heavy due to the chair base.

    • I bought one of these around this time last year during their $990 sale. It fit into my old '87 Commodore sedan. Just took it out of the packaging at Living Edge and got it into the back seat.

chair worth more than the car

        • -1

          Almost.

  • Accenture had a ton of these. They are awesome if you can afford it.

  • got one. thanks

  • What does the Full Specs with Standard Base mean exactly?

    • You don't get the aluminium base / arms etc.

You do, however, get all the functional items.

      • can you buy the alum base/arms on amazon

        • Do you have a link as I could find them seperatly.

  • Cool! Been thinking to get a decent chair to replace my old OW chair.

  • For those looking for the aeron work stool -luke has it for $1090.

    http://luke.com.au/brands/herman-miller/aeron-work-stool

Not sure whether it needs it's own deal to be created

  • Have had my Aeron Chair for 8 years. Fantastic chair and have never looked back at my investment.

  • Is this the best chair for someone with "lower back" (muscular) problems? If not can someone please recommend other chairs? I spend so much time at my desk I am really suffering from core muscle problems (transverse abdominis), even though I exercise regularly (walk, fit-ball, circuit, cycle). I don't need a fancy chair, or even a comfortable one, just one that won't cause problems with long periods of work at the desk. I guess after many hours my posture just gets very sloppy and that does the damage. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I just bought this in search for a decent alternative to the HM stuff. http://www.milandirect.com.au/office-furniture/ergoflex-spac…

Having not sat in a HM aeron/embody I won't have a reference once I receive the MD one. But it does have what looks like complete adjustable everything. From what I can see though, it doesn't have a mesh seat.

Another alternative with lots of good reviews and cheaper. http://www.milandirect.com.au/office-furniture/office-chairs…

      • Thanks, I would be interested to hear how you find the chair.

        • Got the chair, have been using it for a day. My problem is with my lower back. It needs a huge amount of support, esp when I'm arched over and not keep my back straight. The chair help take the weight of my back and it is comfortable.

It actually does have a mesh seat which was a nice surprise, so its pretty comfy. everything is adjustable as I mentioned before except, the lumbar and head rest is like a floating system. It changes angles as your back dictates or head dictates. It doesn't allow you to change the angle in and of itself, but does what your body does. It's comfy, but not having sat on an HM aeron, I don't know how good it is. But the $620 cost incl. shipping is worth it I think.

It's a heavy seat, just like the HM's. Seat move forward/backward, height adjustable backrest and headrest. Of course the entire seat is height adjustable as well.

All in all, very well made - I'd buy another one if I had to.

  • Interesting that a lot of the alternatives have mesh backs but not seats which is one of the strengths of the the Aeron in my view.

  • Tried the Herman Miller Aeron and the Mirra. Preferred the Mirra. Sitting on one now.

    • How much was the Mirra?

  • Brisbane store number 31372961

  • Thanks OP. Bought an Aeron in Brisbane today. Only B & C sizes in immediate stock and for those that want the Mirra (not on sale) none in stock in Brisbane but some in Melbourne.

    • I did too, they also said only black (grey) in stock, and other colours not on sale.

    • It's so bad that they don't open on weekends… I don't know when I can head down there.

  • Can you order over the phone? I'm about 3 hours from Melbourne. Don't really want to travel all that way for a chair I cant even fit in my car.

    • Why don't you call them and ask?

    • +1

there's no stock in melbourne for size C (this is on friday)
      awaiting their call next week.

    • I believe you would have called them already. In case you didn't get chance, Melbourne store accepts the order over the phone. Next day they will call you for Credit Card Details and you will also get order confirmation email.

In about a week it should be ready for pickup from the store in Richmond.

      I also ordered one.

  • thanks OP! waited a while for this. FYI no A size left in Sydney.

Guys, I have justed purchased an Aeron through Innerspace, Brisbane. They are doing a sale at the moment and the price is $799 plus GST. I think it's worth mentioning in here. They are also availalbe over the weekend which is a huge plus for me.

    Website: http://www.innerspacestore.com.au/

    • Damn thats cheap. Too bad no Inner Space in Sydney, otherwise I would buy a few for the office.

  • (First time OzBargain'er)

Thanks for posting this deal - ordered over the phone, Size C in stock in Sydney and I've been told they can deliver some time this week.

Delivery costs, for anyone that's interested, are a bit high: $120 out to the Ryde area from the Sydney store.

    • You might as well buy from Inner Space, I just rang them and it costs around $60 to deliver to Sydney from QLD.

      All up you pay $940

      • Wow how did you manage to get postage from QLD to Sydney for that amount?? Their website qouted me $74 to post from their Brisbane store to another Brisbane suburb.

      • Really. That's nice. Living edge charges $60 for delivery in metro Brisbane..

        • I rang them and that what they quoted me.

        • I just got my Aeron size C from InnerSpace in Brisbane today. $955 all up including delivery to the Gold Coast. Pretty happy with it so far.

Their website quoted ~$98 for delivery, so it pays to ring up, rather than order online.

I believe they are out of size Bs.

  • Shows delivery 158.81 to Sydney, not $60.

If service is needed, its probably a problem buying from Inner Space if you are far away from them.

  • Hi all - don't mean to hijack thread so i'll keep it brief. Looking to sell my size B Aeron, brand new, purchased from Living Edge Sydney, full 12 Year Warranty (invoice will be under your name), for $980.

If interested please see - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/91608

    Thanks.
