Is It Worth Buying Components Like CPUs from AliExpress?

I'm currently shopping around for good prices for the 5700X3D (to upgrade an aging 3600 and future proof my AM4 against the new AMD GPUs coming out later this year) and noticed their RRP has shot up by $50. My bad for not pulling the trigger earlier! Does anyone have any experience buying CPUs from sellers like this and can testify whether it's worth it to buy internationally without the safety of an Australian retail warranty?

I'm also still a little hesitant about getting the 5700X3D over the 5600X or another cheaper, non-3D variant, but I figured I'd make use of the 3D V-Cache given I play a lot of sim games (Satisfactory, DSP, Factorio, Arma 3, etc).

Id be careful buying anything from AliExpress.
Their suppliers cannnot be trusted and shipments sometimes go missing if not on the AliExpress Priority/fast delivery schedule.
Its also a challenge getting refunds through AliExpress

I got one via this deal a few months ago.

Took about 2 weeks to arrive and works fine.

Really hoping this deal comes back!

  • I wouldn't risk this.

Everyone saying No because it's AliExpress. There's been heaps of AliExpress deals on this CPU and they've all been fine.

Obviously be aware of the really cheap ones from brand new stores with no feedback. They're fake and will have something like "new" or "top" in front of the name.

Legitimate stores include cp u Store, JS-Computer Store, PC Hardware Parts Store and SZCPU Store.

I agree. I bought a CPU from the cp u store based on your recommendation. The CPU was delivered quickly and works fine and is around $100 cheaper for similar CPU in AU.

Make sure you read the reviews carefully

i bought a tray ryzen 7 7700 last year for around AU$260. bargain

  • I'm wanting to upgrade from a 5600x to a 5700X3D, just waiting for another AliExpress bargain to appear again.

I'm not sure if I'd buy another CPU through AliExpress. I did eventually get what I paid for. After first being sent an obvious fake, and having to kick up a stink. I'm not sure I'd buy another anything through AliExpress. But for CPUs, where else do you get what you can get from AliExpress.

  • When I was looking at old Ryzen chips the savings weren't that great. But wouldn't surprise me if it all came from the same suppliers. I wouldnt' risk it tho.

  • Im on my 5th purchase. Too easy.

  • Wait is the AliExpress deal back? Not ATL but still a good price for A$273.99?

got one recently and it works great, just choose one with reviews, theres fake low price sellers

    • This, as with other platforms like ebay, etc… people need to look at the reviews and how long the seller has been active on the platform.

      • +2

It stands to reason anyone who fakes the product is going to fake the reviews too.

        • and how long the seller has been active on the platform.

  • Tis fake (too cheap, they will ship a used or swap for 5600G or something else - I tried a couple) :/

However, I have bought a few of these (mobo CPU RAM bundles, 7 so far for family, friends, coworkers that wanted a "cheap gaming PC"):

And they are all working fine and genuine product :P

    • I've had a good experience using JGINYUE mobos and the main reason I've got them is the abundance of white. Other brands like Soyo (Maxsun), Machinist and Mougal are good too. When it comes to RAM I've had good experiences with Puskill, Juhor and Kllisre.

Plenty of good Chinese brands around if you're shopping on a budget.

      • Do they update their bios somewhat regularly?

        • Yes. Many adding 9000 series support for example.

  • Its a decent upgrade compared to what you're running now, but i'd hardly call it 'future proofing'.

  • There has been cases of older lower spec cpus being repackaged as newer cpus so id be very cautious. Definitely look at well known store as listed further above.

I had my doubts, too. Bought a 5700x3d for $250 aud through aliexpress. Seller had lots of reviews. Arrived roughly 2 weeks after order. No issues so far.

  • I wouldn't buy anything from AliExpress . It may appear cheap but you dont get what you ordered. Their suppliers are shonky. Getting a refund is a nightmare. I lost $99 treated it as tuition fee.

There are so many reliable local hardware suppliers who maybe a fraction more in price but you dont have after sales problems.

  • I purchased a 5700x3d from ali during the Singles day sale and it got so delayed I got it for free.
My experiences have been good, as with Choice products you can do a no questions asked return within 15 (actually 90? I must've misremembered) days of receiving the product.
Although there are some dodgy stores that only have 5 reviews with a 5-star rating and claim to have half-price cpus occasionally. So just always check the volume and read the reviews.

I would suppose you could just chargeback if you do get scammed with no recourse from aliexpress.

Not sure what people here are on about with having a bad experience on aliexpress. I've bought over the last few years at least 20k AUD (personal and for business) worth of stuff mostly electronics and PC items. The link you shared has strong reviews too, I wouldn't have any issue buying. I've had a few instances (very rare) of needing to return or item not arriving and everytime I've gotten my money back.

Albeit, there are dodgy listings by dodgy sellers - either alot cheaper than others and/or stores that have only opened recently. Just read the reviews before purchasing.
