  • For those asking it's a 2000w cooktop

Will it be a higher wattage if I don't ask?

    • 2000w

Noob here, may i know if means it its too low powered to cook rice?

      • How many watts does it take to cook rice?

How many rice does it take to be cooked by watts?

        • +1

Depends how much rice and water

        • +2

          At least three fiddyy

      • Yeah - should be fine. Most 2 litre(10 cup uncooked) rice cookers are 800-1000w.

      • While not the model in OP, I do my rice on the Bellini 30cm Induction Portable Cooker, absorption method, lowest wattage (300w) on hotpot setting.

Love it. My only complaint is I wish it was a larger inductor(?)/heating zone in the induction unit.

    • Did not read the comments, but has a good reviews score on Catch anf on this listings website.

Only $5 delivery for orders $50+.

I bought it from catch, bought it in the above deal. I like this better than kmart one. Physical buttons. Can actually cook on high heat - kmart ones overheats very quickly on high power. the only down side, so far, for me is the display keeps blinking when it's not in use so you have to turn it off at the powerpoint.

        • How is it for lowish power simmers?
          Don't expect inverter-level performance but there's a big difference between a 1s cycle and 10s cycle.

          • @dufflover: I simmer at 400 watts cos any lower i'm better off using the slow cooker. 6on 5off which is longer on than kmart from mem but i dont have an issue

Cheers. Bought one for my BYD Shark.

      BYD Flake?

      • Flake?

I actually use my portable induction unit, air fryer, etc. on my Atto 3 as backup when/if public BBQ's at destination are out of service.

  • Thanks OP, bought a few :)

What if you don't want a knife sharpener? Can you send it back?

    • +9

      Yeah 👍🏻 but it’s a dull move

      • +3

drspy00 was clearly joking. You are not very sharp, are you?

        • +1

          Be my whetstone

        • I was but it did seem rather brutal they would throw in this knife sharpener even if you don't want it. lol

  • OOS

  • Sold out.

Just received Order Cancellation email, due to not enough stock.
Oh well, back to using firewood.

    • +1

That's poor form, not hard to have a stock counter that prevents that exact scenario

    • I received the same kind of email ☹️ ordered 45 minutes after the deal posted

Got one of those, pretty good

  • Is it possible to make an omelette on an induction cook top, when you need to be able to constantly shake the pan over the heat?

    • I never shake the pan over the heat, but I only have electricity. I use induction and more a case of moving the cooked parts towards the middle and sides (to try to keep it fairly even thickness and lifting that up to allow the uncooked egg to then go under it and on the pan, then put a lid on while on low heat (if cooking fillings and cheese). I then flip one half over the other, or you can do it in thirds

      • That's another thing that puts me off, the Ikea portable induction top has a small cook area, and YouTube videos show it cooks unevenly (more brown and crispy in the circle in the middle that actually heats up).

        • From my shopping around of these portable ones IKEA seems to have one of the slightly bigger ones with a 17cm coil. Some of the others that seem to rate well for cycling like Xiaomi and Tokit apparently only have 15cm coils.

Still haven't found one willing to try yet. The IKEA buttons felt like it would be too close to the cookware in use, if you imagine a wide hot pot bowl or the Aldi wok I use atm (on gas).

  • Anyone cook steaks without a pan on these?

    • Red meat certainly has a higher iron content, but that might be a bit of a rusty move

  • What about the steak knives?
