$75.99 for same item in starter pack (with a hue bridge) is a great deal, thanks OP

Thanks mate, which ones are better please? With bridge or without

      • Definitely get the bridge, especially at this price. It's a no brainer IMO.

Thanks bought 5 to install in my Model 3 and Y

          • @qzcbmo: Teslas have power outlets and wifi inside the car?

          • @qzcbmo: Well that's an interesting approach to using Powershare! I'd be keen to see pics of that set up. Hopefully it's not a huge drain on power.

My only call out would be for anyone with curved ultrawides: you may find the adhesive won't stick that well due to the curvature of the monitor. I've got a 65" gradient on my LG C1 and one corner has a tendency to pop off every now and then, so I reckon a curved UW would have a bigger issue with staying firmly in place. That's why I never got one for my 38" Dell UW - I figured the adhesive would be exactly the same.

@KangaDrew: Yes this. I bought one for my 32 AW3225QF and it can’t stick for 3 months. Called Philips customer services and they can’t help it. Big disappointed

        • Some Echo speakers – such as the 3rd-gen Echo Show 8, Echo Hub and Echo Studio – can work as Zigbee hubs. If you've already got one of these speaker models set up, new Hue bulbs can be added through Alexa without the need for the Philips Hue skill.

      • "Thanks got 100"

  • Grabbed the 32-34" with bridge. Great deal. Thanks OP!

  • What's the difference with these and just the regular coloured lightstrips? Do they only work on PC?

    • Gradient gives you more colour variants on the same strip, whereas the normal light strips are a single colour.

      • But do they plug in oike regular strips or do they need a PC?

    3x 24-27" also available at $99.99(amazon.com.au). is $299…not $99

  • +1

Needed a Hue Bridge and this is cheaper + free pc lightstrip. Thank you!

  • This one (3x 24-27" also available at $99.99) is showing as $299?

    • +4

      It got OzBargained

  • Is it easy to take these off and put them on somewhere else? Will be moving houses soon.

    • +2

Yeah it's super easy, worst case you can replace the adhesive with command strips

  • great fid

How Phillips have managed to convince people that an IoT RGB light strip is worth $50+ amazes me.

    Or am I missing something?

    • +4

Perhaps it's the technology that syncs it to the display that's causing the higher cost? I doubt you could achieve the same effect with a generic LED strip off AliExpress, for instance…

        • homekit integration
      • But the RRP is $300+

  • If I have two 32 inch screens do I need 2 Hue bridges or is 1 enough?

    • +1

      One is enough

  • +1

Had both the 32-34 w bridge and ydays past cart.

Got ozBd whilst finishing reading OzB comments.

Great timing, always wanted to try out a lighting kit but not sure what to get, being Philips you know it will be a decent unit.

Will be mounting it on a Dell 38" monitor, hopefully the 32-34" kit is not too short/small and enough to emit good light effects.

Don't need the Hue Bridge, but for $8 more to have something that retails for $80+ included sounds like a no brainer.

  • Damn missed it

  • I'll wait for the 55" :-)

  • I've got a 42" monitor. I'm guessing no chance I can do use this? I ordered the 32-34" Starter Kit with hue bridge but I'm guessing won't be sufficient?

    • Lightstrip in 34'' version is ~ 116cm long, it will be sufficient just with smaller banded parts.

If it's not good, you can return and I (or someone else who missed on 34'') will buy it. ;)

      • Thanks I'll give it a go

    • It'll work just fine, length depends on how you stick it to the back of the monitor, you need to go a bit towards the centre as oppose to the edges of the display
Also you can easily sell it on ebay for the same price you bought or return it to Amazon too, I would be happy to pick it off you if you are in Sydney also

      • Cheers i'll give it a go

32-34" Starter Kit link just sends me to the 24-27" Listing?

    • +1

It's oos now, it was on the same page

      • Cheers. No $75.99 impulse buy for me

I got the whole phillips package from the maccas monopoly, i didn't expect anything from it but man, its so nice coming home at night with all the colourful lights, plus people from outside the house think someones at home, which is a good deterent from break ins.
You can also set it up like there are shadows going around to mimic a human presence.

  • Thanks OP! Got the 24/27 kit.

I've already got lifx wifi led strips, and it seems like I can combine everything with home assistant.

I also picked up this nice remote that can use the Phillips hub for Zigbee communication. So HA can control my lifx lights from zigbee button presses: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0BFDFXC68

The grubs still want $699 for the sync box 8K though

  • Cheers OP, missed the 32-24 but grabbed a 24-27. Got Hue lights throughout the house and keen to make myself a lamp and this could work nicely.

  • Has anyone made one of these work with an LG Ultragear monitor? I've been considering this lightstrip for a while but since my monitor has a ring on the back, I think would make it difficult to mount.

    Thanks great deal 😁😁😁

  • 32-34'' Kit with Hub is back in stock ($75.99)

    • And it's gone - OzBargained.

    • I can’t find it

    • Hmm I have a 27" curved but flanked by 2x24" monitors so I thought I'd need 3 lights..
bought one with the hub and two plain : Philips Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip Kit, 24-27-inch Length

Now they're here (ordered 9am arrived 9pm, wow) . The light strip is so long I'm going to have to read some instructions on how it is meant to be mounted…
I assumed it was just as wide as a monitor, but it's not, it's so long I assume it gues up one side, along the top, and down the other.

Guess I'll be returning two of the strips… I dont think I need them!

Also you might not need a hub if you have an echo show 8, I've got two of those and a 5… the annoying thing is the 5 is on my desk and the 5 doesn't have zigbee
Though there is a menu to control all of your compatible smart home appliances, you have to scroll a lot because of how small the screen is, which results in a lackluster user experience for checking statuses. And unlike the Show 8 and 10, this model does not have built-in Zigbee smart home hub support.

Man, these do NOT work with curved monitors (only 1800R) - it pops out of the mounting. It's going back!

If anyone in Sydney missed out and wants two of the 2& inch and one with hue, they're welcome to at cost…. otherwise Amazon return!

    • I guess it happens when ppl over buy

  • I bought the 32 inch and actually I have a 27 inch monitor. Woops

    • +1

Time to buy a new monitor

    • want to swap? i have a 32 inch 1440p…. forgot it wasnt a 27

    • Happy to swap you with a 27 + bridge version :)

I thought I ordered the 32 but accidentally ended up with 27

      • Lets do it

  • Hey guys, I was considering getting multiples but might leave it for you guys. it seems like they have a few more stocks for this one

    Best luck!

Wow , they're really not worth $200+ each, what a rip off. They're not really worth the sale price either!

      • Not sure if you have used them - I totally agree that they are overpriced but it's definitely a different league than other smart lights.

It's not the hardware but it's simply the app that makes a difference :)

        • I've seen them demonstrated, and yes they are impressive… and surely a high profit margin. Shame for my my curved AOC screens were just completely unable to work with them.

          • @DisasterArea: I'm sure they do! I have multiple hue products (bulbs, LED stripe, gradients and light bar) and I got them all second-hand or with deals like this.

Worth is subjective but I love how they work that I don't need to spend any time choosing colours (the app already has multiple scenes and keeps updating).

So instead of having cheap ones, having a hue system is good because you're not only having one smart light at home at the end - it's the platform you choose.

            • @jinntonic: With budget options, I've heard that IKEA is pretty alright

Anyone who needs this, I have some stock to release. Please send me a PM and I will release the stock back into the wild for you to purchase at your convenience.

  • I see what people are saying about curved monitors.

The light strip is only flexible in one side, if you use the flexible side to make an U shape, then the entire U cannot be bended to follow the contour of a curvy monitor (the back of it). Even some flat monitors have curved backs, so need to watch out for that.

But if you just use it straight, then you can use the flexible side to follow the contour, if the monitor is wide enough.

Another thing to watch out for is the light strip is not symmetrical, depending how you position it, the power connector maybe on the far side. The included power cord is not very long, so you may need an extension cord like this: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07FXT49KF

I installed it to the edge of the desk in a straight line, the effect is pretty good.
