How does this differ from Acronis True Image?
Any feedbackProbably better than Acronis True Image (standard version) because they require you to purchase the plus pack to restore to different hardware.
Keeping in mind other backup solutions all basically work the same. .tib extension versus .omg
Which one to download? the 32 bit, 64 bit or the ISO image?
Are you running a 32-bit or 64-bit OS?
32 bit. Do you also need the ISO image?
pretty sure ISO images are for burning it to a disc to install from the disc.
the others will just be .exe files to run straight from the pc.The ISO is also bootable in the event you can not boot into your OS and need to recover an image.

Do I need a parallel port cable to use this?
Wow, Laplink are still around? I remember fondly the days of using a parallel cable to transfer files between computers using their DOS software. Much more efficient than using floppies.
was laplink bought or was oringally Norton product?
Downloaded.
Must install and register before the 10th, or just download?
Also, seems like this is a good option for upgrading from small SSD to larger SSD. Anyone used it for that? I'm guessing can image to another SSD in a HDD case, and then swap the HDDs in the machine and it should work? Thanks. I have Norton 360 but downloaded this software anyway.
The boot cd is actually/looks like an OO software image cd with laplink "badge"
The word "OO" software is all over the place.
It is very very [painfully]slow to make an image.
It seems that laplink may have a deal with OO software.
It also mentions that the boot cd has some drivers on the cd from Vista operating system and the date on/in the program is 2010.
Seems "old" software and given away free, probably does not do windows 8 images.
"Seems "old" software and given away free, probably does not do windows 8 images."
Yep, this is a re-branded O&O DiskImage 5, I think, which is definitely not Windows 8 compatible.
Luckily, Windows 8 (and 7, for that matter) has a perfectly good Disk Imager built in.
You can boot up off any Windows install disc/USB stick/recovery partition and restore backups from there, including over a network.
