2TB NVMe 4.0 for Laptop < $200

Howdy, trying to find the best value\performance option in this space.

Thanks I did filter and search and found what you linked, however I'm not too trusting of buying a NVME from ALi express.

    WD SN3000 Green 2TB. $155 from Scorptec.

Its not the fastest gen 4, but its the Green model, which sacrifices a bit of speed for lower power consumption. Which is what most people would want in a laptop. And its hard to find a cheaper 2TB without buying from AliExpress.

  • What’s the model of the laptop as this may help to determine the best nvme for it as speeds are dependent on your hardware.

    • Inspiron 13.

Here are the options on the spec sheet

      M.2 2280, 512 GB, PCIe NVMe Gen4 x4, SSD
      M.2 2280, 1 TB, PCIe NVMe Gen4 x4, SSD
      M.2 2280, 2 TB, PCIe NVMe, Gen4 x4, SSD
      M.2 2230, 256 GB, PCIe NVMe Gen4 x4, SSD
      M.2 2230, 512 GB, PCIe NVMe Gen4 x4, SSD
      M.2 2230, 1 TB, PCIe NVMe Gen4 x4, SSD
      M.2 2230, 256 GB, PCIe NVMe Gen3 x4, SSD
      M.2 2230, 512 GB, PCIe NVMe Gen3 x4, SSD
      M.2 2230, 1 TB, PCIe NVMe Gen3 x4, SSD
      M.2 2280, 512 GB, PCIe NVMe Gen3 x4, SSD, QLC
      M.2 2280, 1 TB, PCIe NVMe Gen3 x4, SSD, QLC

      • Is there an NVME in the laptop right now? Is it Gen4? I'd do a speed test to see if you might end up paying for something you don't need.

Often laptops are not as high performing as desktops and you'd be better maxing out a Gen 3 with good NAND than getting a Gen4 with low performing NAND

Not all time low at the moment but you can get it now ~$160

  • Be hard not to consider a Fikwot

Backslash in a sentence? You sir have been spending far too much time in DOS\Windows.

And why do you care about performance over one NVMe over another? I suspect you have unrealistic expectations over how this will affect your life. Nah, I over-optimise all the time, so am in no position to cast stones :-)
