Lower than last time according to camels and it's easier to get into than the base Gloomhaven game. This is standalone and does not require the base game to play.

Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion is aimed at a more casual audience to get people into the gameplay more quickly. All of the hard-to-organize cardboard map tiles have been removed, and instead players will play on the scenario book itself, which features new artwork unique to each scenario.

The last barrier to entry — i.e., learning the game — has also been lowered through a simplified rule set and a five-scenario tutorial that will ease new players into the experience.

    We played the first few missions 2-player and enjoyed it. In general, however, you have to choose if you'll ignore or embrace the 'just a shit ton of things to be aware of to play optimally', and get through by the skin of your teeth, spending all your resources, or playing like proper nerds and getting all the rewards etc. I'm pretty nerd-heavy, but our first play through was much more light-hearted and we got through and had a good time.

  Excellent game!

  It removes a number of entry barriers that the full gloomhaven has while still maintaining enough of it to have a great game experience.

  It doesnt matter how good a game is if you never play it, this has seen a lot more play at my place than my NiB Gloomhaven.

    The only person I know who made it through bighaven is a guy who bought a wooden insert to make setup and teardown less of a bear.
