French Door Fridge - Choice Recommendations?

Morning, looking for a 600L+ French door fridge freezer around $2000.

Anyone here have a subscription to Choice that could have a look and see what they recommend?

Bosch series 4 seems to be ok, but quick interwebbing suggests it's not liked by Choice.

Thanks in advance

When getting french door fridges please also consider the design of the freezer.

I have seen a few where the freezer space is split across the middle which makes it harder to store something wide such as frozen pizzas etc

You’d be after the Italian door fridge.
You need to seek a free subscription to “Scelta”

I can just sign in to Flipster with my public library card to get access to Choice at any time.. maybe yours is same.

A lot of libraries have online magazines, with Choice commonly included

I signed up to choice back in September when we had a baby on the way and was in the market for lots of big purchases, fridge, bed, mattress, bbq, buggy and all the baby things. I didn’t find any useful comparisons or reviews on choice fullstop. Their “Best XXX of 2024” always seemed to have choice review ratings very different to the posted consumer reviews, additionally to broad on type and not enough specific like items compared to get a real picture of what you are shopping for. I.e Best BBQ OF 2024 only compared a handful of models but within that group a mix of electric, gas and charcoal.

Anyway, from memory the “Best Fridge” was LG GF-B530BL, lots of consumer reviews saying this fridge is not available in any of the big name stores and question how an unobtainable fridge is the best rated.. some insinuations of an affiliate deal between LG and Coice..
Cancelled my choice subscription, won’t be renewing,

    • Looks like it is available now (but only direct through LG), about $2k or $1500 if you have LG employee or vip account.

    • Choice reviews are not going to make my mind up for me but they do help narrow down the field. The problem with many reviews is the speed at which new items come out and prices drop. Eg. I have seen them not recommend a product based on value for money, they have the item listed as $800 but the review is a few months old and I’m seeing that item with a regular price of $400.

    • Best fridge to buy when expecting a baby is a bar fridge.

Set it up beside your bed with all the other paraphernalia on top of it including microwave/bottle warmer). Put kid in bassinet and have him next to your bed.

When baby needs a night time feed, roll over, get bottle out of fridge, change nappy while heating up bottle and bob's your uncle! Return baby to crib after burping. Done and dusted, never even needed to get out of bed.

  • Choice top fridge recommendation is a French door LG GF-B530BL with a price of $1999 87%. Second FD is a Samsung $3400. SRF7300SA 86%. Third is LG GF-B505MBL $2099 and 82%.

    • F&P RF522ADX5 is highest ranked FD with single drawer freezer in you price range. $1999. Score 80%

  • Avoid getting cold water and ice cube ready in your fridge. This system will occupy your precious internal cavity of your system and also cost to run as you need to spend on expensive filter cartridge and plumbing installation.

LG, FP and Haier, Hisense are good brands.

  • Thanks all for comments

I have arrived at 2 very different options.

A cheap CHiQ 600L option for $1350 (4.5 stars, 5 year warranty) or a similar sized, same warranty Mitsubishi option for $3000

    Decisions decisions

  • Nothing about Choice magazine but …

French Door Fridge - Choice Recommendations?

We bought two (2) Fisher and Paykel.
Different models and at different times.

    Excellent both.
    Recommended based in our experience.

  • Both will last for 10 years, just check who is backing CHiQ and that will answer your probleam

  • Bought the chiq 601. Price, star rating and 5y warranty sold it for me.

I'll report back in 5 years and 1 month

    Thanks all
