First time posting so go easy. Just picked this one up. Seems like a good deal for the delta 2.$200 discount applied at checkout brings it to $999. Planning to install in my work van to power battery chargers and keep the fridge on. I will be combining with a 270w solar panel on the roof racks. I have read online that this version and the 1024 version are the same according to a few reddit users that have multiple of each model and have capacity tested.

    EDIT:
Hmmm…looks like there are issues with the R1500 randomly turning off the AC power with and without any load:

I have the 1024 version and use it just about everyday for the last 4 months and it's been great.

    • what do you use it for every day? is it in your vehicle?

      • +2

I run and fridge and microwave in my work van.

What do you use it for mate ? I was about to buy one for power outages in my area?

Every time these come up I do my load shifting arbitrage calculation. 28c/kwh retail - 7c/kwh solar FIT = 21c/kwh. $999 / 0.21 = 4,757 cycles for payback. LFP will do ~3000 cycles so no deal.

The server would probably benefit from UPS if this can provide it, but still seems rather pricey.

For the other applications like RVs and work vans this sounds great.

    • Do you consider conversion losses as well? Almost impossible to calculate?

      • Its not impossible, its maybe 80-90% each way.

      • +1

Pretty simple to measure, it doesn't seem to be mentioned in the ecoflow manual but if you took a stab at 85-90% round trip efficiency you'd be in the vicinity.

Another point that is that if you believe ecoflow you'll still have 80% capacity left after 3000 cycles. That might be optimistic, but it'll be a lot more than 0%. So you might actually break even eventually.

The way I look at it is my LiFePo4 battery can slowly pay for itself when I'm not using it, and I have it ready for camping and whatever else I need portable power for.

        • +1

You are expecting it to last for a decade or more.
The Lifepo4 battery might but do you expect the electronics to last for a decade without a fault.
What if it develops a fault after the 5 year warranty?

How many hundreds of dollars will it take to fix it if anyone is even available to fix it.

    • At what price point would you buy one? And what is your use case (e.g., using at home at night, as an alternative to mains power)?

      • +7

If you need it you'll buy one, if you don't don't buy it just to load shift.

      • +1

For me - use case is purely economic, so price needs to drop another 50% (a few more years away?). I like the fact it doesn’t need an electrician and can be controlled.

As mentioned there are other factors where people might see value - camping / Rv / limited blackout power / UPS ect. They will buy now and help bring the price down over time.

Does it take whole beans or ground coffee?

    • I was thinking the same thing. What even is an ecoflow delta?

      • +1

To me it sounds like some technologically advanced toilets

  • Can it be used as a backup power supply for PC ?

    • Yes

      • would you connect a pc to a UPS and then power the UPS from the Ecoflow?

        • You can also just use the Ecoflow as a ups and ditch the ups. The switchover on the Ecoflow is quick enough for a power outage. I’ve been using one like that for a few years without any problems.

          • @saltysalt: But note this unit is overkill for a basic PC setup. It has really loud fans when charging so I wouldn’t really recommend it.

  • Got the 950 version for $899 with a free ecoflow chair and cart! So another $220 of value.

    • Where from ?

      • Direct from ecoflow website. Got the chair with free points and won the cart.

  • How does this brand compare to VoltX?

    • +2

Way better, highest quality all in one batteries on the market I would say, followed by BLUETTI

      • Looks good, great features and high specs, but keep in mind efficiency using 240 V inverter and 12 V

is unfortunately below 80 % according to some thorough reviews doing quality testing.

  • It's back on @ $999 at Amazon for the 950 wh Lipo4 model for those still interested.
