Free Courses That Can Be Done Completely Online, So I Can Access Student Discounts via SheerID and UNiDAYS

I need YouTube premium so I can use my Google home ecosystem to play specific songs when I ask them to, and not just a station based on my request.

I'm in NSW.

Are there any free courses or whatever that i can sign up for and get access to a .edu email and student ID?

2 birds, 1 stone situation.
Learn something, get discounts.

Please and thank you

UTAS Diploma of Sustainable Living is free and interesting! You'll get an edu address and ID from UTAS.

  • If you (or anyone in your family) has an iPhone/iPad, then you can still get YouTube Premium Family for like $6/month, just have to pay for it with Indian iTunes gift cards (easily bought from Amazon India) after setting it up.

    • yeh it sucks. i was one of the indian ones.
but not a single person in my orbit has ios anything

    I need YouTube premium …

    You "need" or "would like"

    • to contribute to mental stability…. need.

  • Raspberry Pi… Plex Amp… CD Ripping software… Rip all your own music to the server, set up and enjoy streaming audio… Works on Android Auto and Apple Car play… Not sure about "asking" it to play a particular song/album/artist. Never tired that… NEVER pay for Youtube Music or Spotify again :)

(Bonus steps require an eye patch and a galleon. Parrot and wooden leg is optional.)

    • Just steal Spotify via one of the apps

For all that hassle, you still need to pay $6.49/month for Plex Pass to get basic features like autoplay, downloads and custom mixes…

Considering Youtube Music is only $6.49/month if you're a student (Or $6.99/month for Spotify), why on earth would you bother these days? I had a similar setup years ago when streaming had a limited selection with crappy bitrate, but no use for it anymore with modern codecs and every service having 99% of songs.

Even if miniscule, at least the artist gets something like $10 per 1000 streams, better for them to get a few bucks instead of Plex.

Long term ozBargain professionals all have lifetime Plex for ~$100.

      • you still need to pay $6.49/month for Plex Pass

Then you pay for a year and it's $4.33/month, or you wait till there is a deal posted and you pay a once off fee and never pay again…

why on earth would you bother these days?

Because OP wants to learn something? Making a Plex Amp streaming box can be fun to learn and is pretty cheap.

at least the artist gets something like $10 per 1000 streams

And me paying for the CD/audio files isnt paying them anything? And I am pretty sure the tiny violins are out for all the poor starving mainstream artists…

How about going down to the local op-shop and buying CD's there and helping out, you know, people that actually need the help and not contributing to buying more plastic waste. Reuse/recycle old media.

        • What is Plex and why do I need it? Can't I use VLC to play music?

  • How can I in-debt the taxpayers so I can get discount YouTube?
