  • Anyone able to compare this to NordVPN? Had Nord for 3 years off one of these deals and have been tossing up between going with them again or giving SurfShark a go.

    • Nord VPN is good. Was able to get Nigerian Netflix by using Nord while no luck while using Surfshark.

      • i recently signed up to both to try. I've been a long term Surfshark user. I prefer the interface and usability of surfshark by far. Both offer good speeds. If i was to pick one however, it would be surfshark. surfshark does a pretty good job of blocking a lot of ads as well.

      • Is your Nigerian Netflix still working? Mine was with india and they declined my ANZ card

        • Yes it still working. Indian Netflix needs Indian bank card to process the payment. You can try payingwith Revolut.

          • +1

@Be Happy: Dang. ANZ card still doesn't work with Netflix Nigeria.

EDIT: Thanks for lettting me know about Revolut. Signed up and managed to get that one working! Cheers!

            • @FiloGuy: I'm using Revolut for Netflix. Initially for few months your auto debit will be rejected by Revolut saying that the transaction is a scam. So make sure to approve the transaction for few months and then it will approve it. It happened with me for 3 months and now no issues with auto debit.

    • You can always sign up, and then cancel within 30 days if you don't like it.

    • Nord won't work in China, which means I'm not subscribing again when current sub expires, so if that's important to you, heads-up!

  • +1

Anyone with real life experience using in China recently?

    • not recently, but neither of them worked when I visited China in 2023 and 2024, though the free Proton VPN app installed on my phone worked

    • +1

I used it in China in December. Worked fine

    • +1

Worked ok back in November but with was limited countries. I was not able to choose Australia.

There was US, London, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan nodes available. Speeds were still good once connected.

    • Surfshark worked in China in Jan. Much more limited options (mainly Asian countries). No Australia.

    • Currently in China, and quite annoyed Nord isn't working here anymore. VPN Unlimited was working when last I checked. Suggest you avoid Nord and give them a go. To late for this google-free visit, but I'll prolly go with them next time.

    Is it for any plan?

Signup for Surfshark One 27month - paid $115.40 with PayPal & Tracking back in 30min $106.81.

      • How did you get 27mo for $115.40? Did you select plan starter or one? Also which country did you select? How did you pay? Using debit/ credit card or Wise or Paypal?

  • +2

CASHREWARDS code is auto applied, will this block the tracking?

    • What's the price you paid and for which plan?

  • +1

Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up. No need to get the One+ package since Incogni doesn't even work in Australia. Learnt it the hard way. Thankfully their support team cancelled and have issued a full refund. Hopefully it gets returned with minimal loss.

Also, if you use PayPal it will deduct a significant portion of money due to a terrible exchange rate. I'd recommend using Wise or Revolut Card instead.

    • Have you proceeded in different currency other than AUD?

  • Why is it so difficult to use the offers on cashback

  • I've processed PAYMENT with Visa debit card for 119.3 and tracking $104.35 after an hour., It's better than Shopback where I failed to get Nord VPN tracking and cancelled.

$15 for 27 months is alright for me. Using in some occasion but need criticality time to time.

    • How did you get 27mo for $119.30? Did you select plan starter or one? Also which country did you select? How did you pay? Using debit/ credit card or Wise or Paypal?

When i select plan One price it shows me is $129.33+GST, so total around 145. Ever if i select US and California as suggested by someone. Still comes to $129.33 instead of $119.30. How did you end up getting to this price?

  • Any tip to save on GST?

    • +2

Change country to US and select California.

      • What was the final price you paid and for which plan? What steps did you follow including for payment?

        • Well I bought my sub last year in October so don't remember the exact figures but I know it was correct and it already got approved too.
I bought Surfshark One plan with 24 plus 3 months.
The only step to keep in mind is to change the country from Australia to US to avoid any taxes, fees etc.

  • Which one is better Express VPN or Surfshark?

  • I bought subscription yesterday evening and not tracked yet. I think I used the email that I used before but last subscription expired around 2 years ago. I realized it when surfshark page said welcome back.
It's nearly 20 hours now and it hasn't tracked yet could be due to that reason ?
    Please advice.

    Thanks

    • Yes. New customers only so you need to get someone else to sign up instead.

      • Thanks for the reply. So you reckon it won't track at all. Can I cancel the subscription and sign up with new/different email. I read these things earlier but didn't pay attention to the email used to sign up as it was already expired around two years ago. Not sure how long does the cancellation takes and this will expire tonight, might have to wait for next deal in couple of weeks or months.

        • I think that would be a good idea to cancel. Mine expires in two weeks so I'm hoping when I need a new VPN subscription there is a cashback deal then.

edit: you've got 30 days to claim a refund

          • @mysterytal: What are some of the reasons that I can use to cancel the subscription ?
            TIA

            • +1

@koolchamp81: Thanks but it didn't work as expected. Anything really they don't mind.

              • @mysterytal: How long before a previous email or account is refreshed and considered as new account by them? Credit cards consider them new in 12mo. Surprised these guys don't consider them new even after 2yrs of no activity? Is there anything we can do like maybe deleting account to ensure next time they consider you as new account

                • @BargainBragster: Exactly that's why I didn't pay attention as to which email was used last time. For nbn deals , I often switch provider and never had any issues with getting discounted price as a new customer. Might have to check if I can delete the account completely if there is any such option.

                  • @koolchamp81: My SS subscription expires in a few days time, so I was also wondering how to get one of these deals if I'm already a customer.

When people say use a new email, where do you enter that email? Do you have to change the email through cashrewards, or can cashrewards see you've already purchased it under that email address, or it is SS that are the ones that see you're still a current customer? In other words, do you just enter a different email address to the one you were previously using with your SS subscription?

Anyone know how you go about doing this?

I also wonder if you can request SS to delete your account so you can use that email address again later on.

Good point about the NBN switching provider thing as I think I'm going to start doing that. I'd been paying top dollar on the same plan for ages and I finally got a 1Gbps plan with a different RSP a couple of weeks ago for less that the cost of my 100Mbit plan.
