POE Doorbell Alone from Reolink Directly is about $119

It is a little bit more than previous deals available via Amazon and Aliexpress.

Looks like OnePass is excluded from Delivery but $0 C&C. So Amazon could be better if you have Prime.

Depends if you have Prime or not.

  • Cheaper via aliexpress

Installed mine recently, works great with nvr and app

      Cheaper via aliexpress

      Got a link?

      • A few historical links in OP

Might need to wait for next price drop, coupons and flash cashback

        • Yeah think it was as low as $88 plus $4 cashback actually

        • Yes, historical links, not currently though.

    • What's the general installation process when running PoE through a house (where there is no existing wire or wired doorbell?). Did you get a sparky to do it?

      • +1

Its not hard to DIY, plenty of youtube tips

      • +3

Officially a licensed data cabler should do it.

Unofficially, its not hard to run Ethernet after watching a few guides & buying some cheap tools.

    • works great with nvr

Do you have to plug it into NVR directly or it can be anywhere on the network?

      • +1

Do you have to plug it into NVR directly or it can be anywhere on the network?

Either is fine, provided that you are providing power via the ethernet cable. A little extra setup on the NVR may be required if they're not directly connected, but generally they will be auto-detected and you just need to input the password.

I have quite a number of Reolink cameras and none of them are plugged directly into the NVR. The folks over at r/reolink actually recommend this arrangement over a direct connection.

      • +1

you just need a separate POE switch if not plugging in directly.

        • +1

Or a PoE injector connected to AC power for each camera. A switch is definitely neater, and almost certainly cheaper if there's more than one device.

Just remember there are several different models of the Reolink doorbell available - make sure you get the one that suits your needs best.

    1. Black PoE doorbell - ethernet only, 4:3 landscape view, no package detection, wireless chime included.
    2. White PoE doorbell - ethernet only, 3:4 portrait view, has package detection, wireless chime included.
    3. Black WiFi doorbell - WiFi + ethernet, 4:3 landscape view, no package detection, low voltage power connections, no battery, wireless chime included.
    4. Black or white WiFi battery doorbell - WiFi only, 1:1 square view, has package detection, low voltage power connections, 7000mah battery, chime not included but can connect operate an existing doorbell chime via existing wiring.

For clarity, this deal is for No.1 in the above list.

All models are fully local with no subscriptions - they have an SD card slot, and can connect to Reolink NVR or Home Hub for storage.

ah, didn't know about the differences of white & black.

    • thanks for the info, now No.1 does not look as good after all.

      which model do you recommended?

      • No. 1 has been working fine for me. I think the preference of aspect ratios will come down to your own setup.

I have 3d printed different wedges to adjust the mounting angle and add a downward tilt to get more of the floor.

Here's a good comparison of the two aspects

If you are getting a package, it will easily flag the person detection.

        • Where do you put your NVR and router and do you connect them together via ethernet
and then run ethernet to all your POE cameras that are outdoor?

How many POE and wifi cameras do you have mounted in your home indoor and outdoor?

No. 1 has been working fine for me. I think the preference of aspect ratios will come down to your own setup.

is 4:3 better since it can view more horizental/landscape?

If you are getting a package, it will easily flag the person detection.

oic, so package detection is pointless since it detects the person anyway?

          • @pinkybrain: I have my NVR inside one of the bedrooms where I also have my file server and other tech.

I only have POE cameras, front, back, sides. It's the 8 channel NVR.

Indoor I already have tapo cameras set up

Whether 4:3 or 3:4 is better will depend on where you mount the doorbell.

      • I have a No.1 PoE version and I'm very happy with it - the aspect ratio works well for my house. I am far more concerned with seeing people approach from either side, and getting a person notification, than the ability to detect a package. However, your own situation may well be different.

Also, the ability to get an ethernet cable (or indeed any wiring at all) may make the decision for you. The battery version is a much easier install, but I prefer to use wired cameras if possible and I hate the idea of needing to take the doorbell down to recharge it. I managed to get the ethernet cable installed with a friend to assist, but it wasn't a whole lot of fun.
