(Kogan First) Kogan Infinity 49” Curved Ultrawide Gaming Monitor KAMN49DFUCLA $679

I made a previous post about this monitor not too long ago and it was $779 and damn now they're already $679, maybe they're trying to get rid of them? I personally wouldn't recommend buying this at this price, maybe around $400 to $500 mark? Then again, 3840 x 1080 just really seams awful on a 49" Monitor

Panel Type: VA (yuck)
Resolution: 3840 x 1080 (DFHD)
Refresh Rate: 144Hz
Connectivity: USB-C
Curvature: 1800R
This ultra-wide monitor offers a large display with a high refresh rate, making it a good choice for fast-paced gaming. However, the resolution on such a large screen may not offer the sharpness expected from other high-res ultra-wide displays.

Non-members: $729

God that resolution stretched across 49 inches would look terrible.

This is 81 pixels per inch.

    • yup 🤣

I guess it's the same as a 27" FHD. I won't buy it, but there have been many deals for FHD 27" monitors in OzB lately.
$679 for such monitor is not a good deal though

This price for this size/res is truly a bad choice in 2025.
~$300? Maybe, but even then you're competing with decent QHD options which I would much prefer over dual 1080

Is this a troll comment lol. What do you mean 81 pixels per inch. The actual number is more than 4000 pixels per square inch of screen.

I've used a 1080 vertical resolution 49" monitor in the past. It's exactly the same resolution and screen real estate as using two 27" 1080p monitors side by side. It's not the nicest for gaming, but it's completely fine for office work/engineering type work. For gaming you'd want at least a 1440 vertical resolution to get all the eye candy 👁️ 👁️

      • I don't do gaming, but only office/engineering. My external monitor experience has been 24" FHD -> 25" QHD -> 27" UHD. I feel that 27" UHD is a bit small (so I prefer 32" UHD), but it's still better than 27" QHD, let alone 27" FHD.

  • I'm waiting for my 85" TCL "monitor" to be finally delivered. I'm finding the $900 75", while capable if within about 2 metres, could be a little bigger.
AFL season is coming up, and youtube streaming and stuffs mean it will be a nice little luxury for $1400. My gaming isn't super fast FPS, so all good there.
Given the size, if driven from the PC power consumption of a bit over 100W on the 75" doesn't test the offgrid solar capacity.
Some folks reckon it takes a bit of getting used to player's heads being bigger than real life on zoom shots, but I haven't noticed it. ahem

    • What the hell are you even talking about?

If you can't work it out, I can't help you.

  • Yuck 1080p on a 49".

  • Perfect if you're trying to cut down on your daily pixel intake. I've upgraded from a 1440p screen to a 720p screen so my eyes don't have to work so hard.

      Fat eyes are the worst

  • Obviously from the comments not good for gaming; but what if you wanted it for work - instead of using 2 monitors?

    • I have 2 of these, 1 at home and 1 at work. I used it to replace 2x27" monitor, for gaming it's below average but I find it great for normal work, unless you need high refresh rate or sharpness.
