Bulova Surveyor 98B429 Green, 98B422 Red 39mm Automatic w/ Sapphire $299 ($274 w/ Signup) Delivered @ Starbuy

120

Edit 3 - Stock of the Red dial has been updated and now has plenty available, along with the Green. Title and description updated accordingly.

There's actually two colourways on special today but the Red (which is better looking IMO) is less than 10 remaining so can't be included in the title. More than 10 available of the Green at time of posting, though.

For $299 ($25 less for first-time buyers) you get a fairly simple but solid build with sapphire crystal and powered by a reliable Miyota movement, likely an 8000 series. Legible 3-hand layout with date and a Cyclops window, which is great for those of us with aging eyes as you can still see the date without spectacles.

Edit 1 - I’m still not used to Starbuy’s $25 signup bonus, thanks for pointing out in the comments. Price in title and description updated.

Green with silver indexes and hands: https://starbuy.com.au/bulova-automatic-mens-watch-96b429/
Red with gold indexes, hands, and crown (very limited stock!): https://starbuy.com.au/bulova-automatic-mens-watch-98b422/

Edit 2 - I fired off an email to SB asking about quantities and they assured me more stock is landing today with plenty of both colours available. I’ll update the post when they’re visible, but for now you should be able to order either one without fear of missing out.

  • It was $259 last year…

    • Yep, welcome to the Wonderful World of Inflation. I've noticed a few prices have been creeping northward over the last couple of years. If you're not suffering FOMO on this one you're welcome to wait and see if it drops lower again.

      was $259

Use the $25 off coupon and you're looking at just 6% more. A lower inflation hit than most groceries.

Example: my favoured rice milk was $1.65 until last month. Now $2.00. An increase of 21% in one go, for no apparent reason.

If you like it, buy it.

      • price has gone up partly because the internet likes this one

i'd buy one but i recently got an orient star and an alpinist

        • Yeah inflation, but they can buy in bulk and have good sales based on demand at almost the previous prices.

It's alright for reference but useless saying how much something was a year or three ago.

No doubt that YouTube watch channels also hype up demand.

Not even comparable. Don't ever buy a Tommy Hilfger watch.

    • Very funny

I am still waiting for a better price on the Seiko Sumo 45mm SPB429J. I can get it for $964.

  • I'm currently using samsung watch 5 pro 45mm which is a good size for my wrist. Is this too small compared?

    • Yes, 39mm is a big difference to 45mm.

      • thx, i thought the thick bezel on this will compensate the difference

        • Thickness doesn't compensate for width.

          • @WatchNerd: i meant the wide bezel

            • @hopper: 39mm is the overall diameter. In other words across the middle, 9 to 3.

Bulova is slowly becoming my favourite. I have 2 in my ten watches collection. Better quality compared to their counterpart in the same price range imo.

    • I agree. They fill that gap between citizen and seiko with the little bit of classiness and difference in style in the same price point.

      • I am very satisfied with my Jetstar and Mini Lunar Pilot. They come in a classy wooden box with an extra leather strap. Those extra little touches is what make it feels (I dare to say) luxurious at this price point.

Can you believe Citizen owns not just Bulova, but Alpina, Arnold & Son, Campanola and Frederique Constant?

      https://www.citizen.co.jp/global/business/watches.html

      • Yes, they are massive lol.

        • personally i dont mind bulova and its US-ish heritage but the rest of those arent much chop

FC isnt too bad but they're barely mid tier swiss
