Does every used car- no matter how young/low milage need RWC provided from franchised dealers?
Mitsubishi and other brands don't seemingly have a Certified Pre-Owned programme like Toyota.

Dealer said it has a balance 5-yr std. warranty. I saw newer Mitsubishi post-2020 have extended factory warranty 10yrs, anyone know if this carries over on used vehicles?

Based on current new 2024 Outlander, ES to LS is about 3.6 grand difference, so would we expect to pay 3.6grand more for a used LS?

Thinking of getting a basic/cheap tier of PPI done on them, Adequate?

    Where is Spection?

Just down the road from Decisive.

Certified pre-owned is a bit of a joke. Its just a marketing gimmick to get you to pay extra because 'certified'. All it means is there is a service history.

Just pick your preferred colour or trim and buy it.

    • And 2 keys

    • possibly Es then.

      es-now includes gravel and snow mode;

Ls-unfortunately removed microsuede+leather seating from this trim.
      but still has roof rails

ES & LS. For a moment I thought it was weird you were cross shopping those two models of Lexus and those prices were far to cheap

does every used car- no matter how young/low milage need RWC provided from franchised dealers?

Yes, all cars need a RWC to be transferred to your name. All it certifies is that the car is in a roadworthy condition - doesn't make comment about service history, accident damage, general condition of the car.

i saw newer mitsubis post-2020 have extended factory warranty 10yrs, anyone know if this transfers over on used vehicles?

The 10 year warranty only applies to cars that have been serviced on-time by Mitsubishi dealers. I can almost guarantee that the first car you're looking at (based on trim, age and km) is ex-rental which has been serviced at in-house workshops - do the owner's details and/or service page say either WTH Pty Ltd (Avis Budget Group), Kingsmill Pty Ltd (Sixt), Hertz (Hertz/Thrifty), or CLA Trading (Europcar)?

based on current new 2024 outlander, ES to LS is about 3.6 grand difference, so would we expect to pay 3.6grand more for a used LS?

Not necessarily - higher models usually depreciate more than lower ones, because people see them as the same car.

    • hi what is inhouse workshops?
i havent seen the owner details

      • The rental company has a workshop that does the servicing. The owners details will be a company who's name doesn't imply it does car rental, the salesman when asked will likely say they have no idea what the company does.

        • ohhmmm interesting.

the seller is a official mitsubishi//kia dealership address, with some sort of hybrid network trading as a bunch of other carmakers.
they said the prev. owner wanted to trade in for a kia

    • they said its a fleet//companyowned car welp

Yes, the warranty does transfer BUT:

Mitsubishi Diamond Advantage 5yr+5yr warranty doesn't apply to ex-fleet or ex-rental vehicles.

All logbook services have to be done at a Mitsubishi to qualify for the 2nd 5 years.

Given how variable the quality of Mitsubishi Dealer workshops are I'm not sure why anyone would want to be part of that crap-shoot.

    • Another side of the 5+5 warranty is that theyre confident the car will not have issues for the first 10y if serviced properly. Ergo, if its serviced it should give trouble free motoring well past 5y.

i reckon if it's serviced the outlander would be solid even at independents

      • i saw newer mitsubis post-2020 have extended factory warranty 10yrs, anyone know if this transfers over on used vehicles?

As the owner of a Mitsubishi I can only say "dreams are free".

Note that there is also a capped mileage.

    • Mitsubishi Diamond Advantage 5yr+5yr warranty doesn't apply to ex-fleet or ex-rental vehicles.

is this written somewhere and even if the exfleet/exrental was serviced ontime at mitsubishis?

the mitsubi dealer service centres near me look to have good google ratings

    • Or you mean all ex-fleet/rentals are autonatically excluded from the extended 5 years? I couldn't find info about thhat

      • Who is excluded from the Diamond Advantage warranty? Government vehicles, Taxis, Rental vehicles, and Selected national business vehicles.

I'd suggest you read the full T&Cs about all the other exclusions.

        • he whered you get that from exacvtly ?

          • @capslock janitor: I googled it. It wasn't hard to get the answer.

            Christ on bicycle.

I own a Mitsubishi. I'm heavily involved in Mitsubishi forums. I see lots of posts of "I bought a Pajero Sport from a dealer. It had a faultless service history. I've just found out off Mitsubishi that the warranty is only 5 years."

Rather than question here repeatedly why don't you phone Mitsubishi and ask what the exclusions are.

            • @brad1-8tsi:

              Christ on bicycle

Jesus rode a camel. Just sayin'

              • @Muppet Detector: I thought it was a donkey? Or was that his "Mum"?

              • @Muppet Detector: Had his second coming in the 50s. Rode a bicycle, but decided the world wasnt ready for the second coming coz of the slavery and stuff and he went home again.

  • I'd make sure it's been serviced and hasn't been in an accident. If you don't know what you're looking for get someone who does.

  • Why don't you call Mitsubishi Australia and ask them your query?

They will answer all warranty questions, they will only ask the vehicle Rego number.

I had done this a couple of times when I had a legitimate query.

Yes, the remaining factory warranty is transferable to the new owner. However, the 10-year warranty is only valid if you service your Mitsubishi at the dealership. I went to a Mitsubishi dealership in Sydney to buy a used 2023 Eclipse Cross last month, the dealer confirmed this.

"The vehicle must have had ALL scheduled services performed within the authorised Mitsubishi
Dealer Network (from the first service onwards) (PHEV vehicles must be serviced at an authorised
    PHEV Mitsubishi Dealer); AND
    • The vehicle must be serviced in accordance with the service schedule (please visit our website
    mitsubishi-motors.com.au/maintenance-schedule or contact 1300 13 12 11 for more details) at the
specified servicing intervals for the duration of the New Car Warranty.
If EITHER of the above conditions are not complied with, the Extended New Car Warranty will immediately
expire on and from the date the conditions are not complied with. "

  • Does Mitsubishi still have their new car cashback offer? I looked at Outlander about 3 months ago, the new ES 2WD (white) was under $40K on-road (in Qld), before any negotiation. I think sales are slow, so they should negotiate.
