Popping this link in for the record, good baseline for getting rid of the muddiness but your mileage (and hearing) will vary. https://noaudiophile.com/DSP_Corrections/Logitech_z623.php

Used to run this set for ages until the cone practically fell apart, would turn off the dsp correction for gaming (because… boom) and then turn on the dsp correction for everything else

  • How are these compared to pebble plus 2.1 from those $50 deals? Reckon we going to see triple the improvements?

Or maybe for a similiar pricepoint those bookshelf speakers deals would be better?

    • Keen to understand this as well - my pair from about 10 years ago just died looking at alternatives I agree the bookshelf’s like Edifier likely sound better but I don’t have the space for them.

Wirecutter suggest the Pebble X Plus are good but they’re $200+ locally.

Edit: I meant Pebble X Plus not Pro

  • Bought my current set from Officeworks back in 2019, they're fairly mighty speakers for the price I paid ($100). As others have said you can often find them on marketplace for cheap.

Not the best sounding but certainly a big sound and they can get very loud. Could be potentially annoying for neighbours if you crank the bass for sure.
I use mine as PC speakers for playing games, watching movies etc and honestly with a little EQ I'm very happy overall. If I want to be picky about audio I put on my headphones/iems.

They also take up less desk space than other speakers (at least in my config) as it's just 2 satellites and a sub that presumably you would put under the desk.

If you're reading this, you're in the market for 2.0 desktop speakers. I have a new recommendation.

I've tried most: Logitech, custom bookshelves & amp, Audioengines etc.

Get yourself a pair of ADAM Audio D3V studio monitors: https://www.adam-audio.com/en/desktop/d3v/ - Roughly ~$500. Very compact size, will sit next to your monitors.

Incredible sound for the price. Great sound stage - very good for gaming. EQ and tuning options. Its the closest thing to having headphones as speakers. Tonnes of detail in mids and highs; bass is really good for the size, however obviously cannot compete with a dedicated sub or bigger drivers.

For the size and price, cant be beat IMHO.

I've got an old Z5500 at my parents place still going strong

And the Z623 in use for my desktop PC

Crazy good how long they've lasted

  • Wow, this 2010 antique still selling? Wondering what is the manufacture date.

  • Recently blew my 623 satelite speakers, great timing!

That being said my speakers were 12 years old, surely there are better options on the market now

  • wow had a logitech speaker setup at my old study room at mums house lol
but i guess instead you just need a good headset especially when you play FPS games

  • I've had two sets of these for like 5 years. Got them when they were like $100 all the time. I never turn them off so shouldn't get that power button issue. Sounds better than tv speakers and the bass is nice.

These are just noise makers. If you really want something decent at a budget, go for the Edifier S350DB, at minimum.

  • I bought one of these in 2017 or something, very decent for games and movies/youtube, still going strong to this day.

  • I've had these for over 10 years. Best audio purchase I've ever owned.

  • Remember selling these at Dick Smith and marking them down sub $100 all the time because they had a heap of GP to play with.

    • Remind me what GP means? I worked there 15 years ago too

      • Gross profit

  • My go to set up for budget setup

I bought these about 15 years ago new for like $80 clearance at Dick Smith. I'm surprised they're still being sold.

  • Certified by THX

  • Does anyone need a sub from these? I have extra.
