Since my last deal on wanwaytech gps tracker (with physical sim) I have not found any other gps tracker close to that <$10 or even <$20 price (with ability to use own sim, own traccar server, be portable with decent ish battery, magnetic back).

But this GPS tracker comes very close NGL.

Main highlights include:-

  • SinoTrack says in listing can use their profession tracking platform sinotracker for lifetime to track this device.
  • Physical sim slot as suggested by video and listing (thus cheap sim cost may be max $20 needed for 1 year)
  • 10,000 mAh battery (that is like 4K mAh more than the wanwaytech)
  • Portable can take anywhere, no need of wires
  • Usb C for charging as per video
  • Magnetic Back
  • Can message commands to sim to get useful responses
  • Compatible with Traccar using h02 protocol so port 5013 i believe needs to be open. Traccar traccar installation guide on a own linux server.

Some Online user Manual I found

Extra Stuff might be helpful for finding manual commands

So yeah over all it is a very good deal IMO. Your costs will be like $54 ish initially + extra $7-$20 annually for sim plan. (THEIR SERVER IS FREE TO USE, or you get your own if you dont want to use their free server). This is quite cheap overall, and very good for non-techy people who dont want to mess around with their own server/server costs etc. Also btw this is quite close to price of an airtag ($49) too but ofc gives better tracking info and more security/privacy (no alerts to nearby users) etc.

Additional tip if you can hide it somewhere with some power connected to it then, you wont have to worry about charging it ever (e.g. connect to usb in car and hide it somewhere in car, then whenever car is turned on its charging automatically).

For those looking for sims to buy with these kinda devices

    I suggest

Vodafone network plus also Allows sms and call outgoing barring (disable sms outgoing so as to make sure credit only gets used for data in device)

$7 a year for Lebara sim (pay as you go $5 plan on $2 sim)
$15 for 1 year vodafone prepaid plan (on current $45 prepaid sim plan deal on their website)

Amaysim $10 pay as you regular (optus network)

Aldi $5 +$15 recharge for a year (telstra network)

    • Is $10 per year enough for data?

      • usage of data is about 30MB data per month according to SinoTrack, so may be 400 MB for 1 yr, you can calculate yourself how much is that based on telco's rates on their PAYASYOUGO plan charges

If you have one, can you please check the IMEI below and let us know the results:

I suggest you do not share your imei stuff with telco's they are stupid companies who blindly ban everything if they see a non matching imei to approved list. I mean Au government was/is stupid too for such blanket ban rule (shutting down so many 4g services to these devices too even if they can use 4G fine)

Had this happen in my car android head unit from Aliexpress, I sent that cursed message to that number which verified if device gonna work or not after 3g shutdown. I have strong belief that if I didnt sent that message to that number then device wont have had been blacklisted. Because I can still see all networks LTE signal in settings of device there just cannot register or connect to them)

They're cracking down on it. Not only will they be blocking devices that they know aren't compatible, they are now legally required to block devices that don't demonstrate that capability. The below was sent out to retail service providers today:

Optus is required under the ECS Determination to cease supply of services to new devices attempting to attach to the Optus mobile network which cannot demonstrate the capability to make emergency calls over Australian mobile networks.

If customers have a device that is not able to make Triple Zero (000) calls, Optus is legally required to stop these mobile phones from accessing the Optus mobile network. This means customers will not be able to make or receive calls/texts or use data on the Optus mobile network.

Similar to the above, if a 'new-to-network' device attempts to connect to the network and the manufacturer cannot demonstrate the capability to make emergency calls over Australian mobile networks, Optus will TAC block the device and include it in the list of unsafe devices.

@besttechadvisor: yeah I can tell you that " If customers have a device that is not able to make Triple Zero (000) calls, Optus is legally required to stop these mobile phones from accessing the Optus mobile network. This means customers will not be able to make or receive calls/texts or use data on the Optus mobile network. " is all bulsht

telco is so useless that it fkin doesnt even bother to verify that device is a "mobile phones" category device. If not then it doesn't need to block it but it will because they are retarted people dealing with retarted government people in Australia who clearly have little brain cells.

Anyway they are still allowing sale and operation of all their 5G home broadband etc. too, why ?? cause its just profit for them, and they feel like talking to government over it.
In reality if they wanna blanket ban stuff, then ban all their 5g, 4g home broadband and like data only sims first

So best advice dont be randomly putting your imei numbers anywhere, or do these check device works etc. or do an operation which is not supported. (all of this may possibly lead to ban which could have been avoided)

              @USER DC:

yeah I can tell you that " … " is all bulsht

It may have been in the past, but I can guarantee it's not now. It's causing a major headache in my day job:

"As Optus broadens their analysis beyond 3G network shutdown, the attached list of TACs is to be blocked under ECS determination section 68 & 69 (Federal Register of Legislation - Telecommunications (Emergency Call Service) Amendment Determination 2024 (No. 1). Carriage Service Providers (CSPs) need to inform the customers within 5 business days and continue to block the TACs in 28 – 35 days. Blocking will apply on the Optus network with the attached TACs and listed MSNs below."

Anyway they are still allowing sale and operation of all their 5G home broadband etc. In reality if they wanna blanket ban stuff, then ban all their 5g, 4g home broadband and data only sims first

Data-only SIMs are exempt, the law only affects voice SIMs, the idea being that people still need data-only devices, but the Government doesn't want people unwittingly using phones that can't make emergency calls. It's a pain, and they haven't given end users enough notice, but it does make sense.

              • @besttechadvisor:

                Data-only SIMs are exempt,

No, Law does not state blocking or allowing sims, rather blocking access of the telco's network to Mobile phones that cannot make emergency calls in LTE only band.

Putting data only sims will not magically allow these device back again on network. They simple do as they like is the truth in all honesty.

I just gave an example how government's only intention is seemingly to get more ewaste. Waste resources, get extra revenue from sale of new devices etc.
Government is not caring about emergency calling service, (if they did, they would have asked telco's to make not compatible phones an option to make calls using like telco app over LTE network).

Rather government is allowing data only connections for mobile phones, (these sims cannot make calls or sms, as per plan). BUT THE ACTUAL MOBILE IN IT is indeed capable of doing calls.

Technically, yes, the 'mobile' is being blocked from connecting to the network, not the SIM. You can take the SIM out and put it into an unblocked mobile and it will work. Pragmatically, the point is moot because we're discussing whether a voice SIM will work with a GPS tracker, not mobile phones.

Putting data only sims will not magically allow these devices back again on network.

You're right, I'm not disagreeing with you here. Putting a data SIM into a blocked mobile won't unblock the mobile, but putting a voice SIM into an unknown device… will also get it blocked. Meanwhile, putting a data SIM into a data-only device will continue to work as it always has, and putting a voice SIM into an unblocked device will continue to work.

I just gave an example how government's only intention is seemingly to get more ewaste. Waste resources, get extra revenue from sale of new devices etc. Government is not caring about emergency calling service, (if they did, they would have asked telco's to make not compatible phones an option to make calls using like telco app over LTE network).

I'm not getting into an argument about Government policies and waste, I just want to know if voice SIMs will work in this device…

Rather government is allowing data only connections for mobile phones, (these sims cannot make calls or sms, as per plan). BUT THE ACTUAL MOBILE IN IT is indeed capable of doing calls.

No, the whole service will, and I quote, "be blocked from the Optus network". Not just calls and SMS, but data too.

Yes, the mobile itself may have the hardware capability to make calls, but you can bring that up with the ACMA. That's not an argument I'm getting dragged into.

All I want to know is if voice SIMs will work in this device as per the blocked device checker

EDIT: I found a SinoTrack IMEI online and it's not currently blocked:

Great news, the SINOTRACK ST-901A device has not been identified as having compatibility issues and is not blocked from accessing the Optus mobile network. Advice is current as of 20/01/2025 and is subject to change.

  • Does the 4G support VoLTE so it can work with Australian networks?

    Which bands does it support?

    Telstra: B1 (2100), B3 (1800), B5 (850), B7 (2600), B28 (700)

    Optus: B1 (2100), B3 (1800), B7 (2600), B28 (700)

    Vodafone: B1 (2100), B3 (1800), B5 (850)

That's the ST-905L which has the smaller 5000mAH Battery

  • Does it have internal memory to record whilst in bush with no cellular connectivity. It's be great if it could keep an internal log then dump it to server with timestamp as well as xy.

    • Doubt that IMO. I think they connect each X seconds to push data, if not sent then it probably wont be received by server later.

    • FYI, SolidGPS does this.

  • What do you do with these? Keep track of the missus?

A spy is asking this ?

    • yeah just shove it behind the back seats in the boot. they'll never find it, battery only lasts up to 3 days though

    • If you have a late model Holden HSV, Maloo etc you might want to seriously consider this. Oh and a horn wire relocation.

  • Whom should I track with this?

    • With SinoTrack gps tracker device, easily to check your cars, teenagers, workers in real time.

    • With that username, we should be tracking you

    • Whom should I track with this?

      Hunter Biden

      Bill Gates

      Fauci

      Take your pick
