Giithub link for commands thanks to that github user

Disclaimer:- Buy at your own risk, you may receive one with with a esim or Physical sim. Last physical sim report
Also there are different ASINs of this GPS traccar, they can be different in itself, this ASIN is most likely of all the 3 or 4 ASINs on amazon to be physical sim one.

the device is very useful if you have it using with your own server, and own sim card plan (as then you dont need to pay extra subscription costs). If you by accident receive a esim tracker instead. I am sorry It wont be that much better than physical sim model option (which if done right would hardly cost like $4.79 device + a cheap PAY AS YOU GO PLAN ~ $10 ish/year + a cheap/free TRACCAR server ~ $0 - $50/ year. So all up $15-$75 ish cost in a year if you get the physical sim version).

Some notable commands that you would probably need/want (copy of my old comment) to send to your sim card in GPS traccar (if it is a physical sim version one)

HASHTAGSERVER (#SERVER)

Reply will be WayWanTech's own server - you probably want to change that

LOCKIP,WWDSS20,UNLOCK#

unlocks your server lock from waywantech to another server, reply should be UNLOCKIP_OK

SERVER,0YOURTRACCAROROTHERGPSTRACKERIPADDRESSHERE,PORTNUMBER,0#

reply will be SERVER_OK (meaning server changed successfully and working fine), to double check run #SERVER again, port number is 5023 for traccar

IMEI#

Gets your device IMEI in reply IMEI:IMEINUMBERHERE

APN#

reply by default will be like Currently in use APN:linksnet…- You probably want to change it to telstra/optus/vodafone's APN, to change use below

APN,UNLOCK#

checks if apn is locked or unlocked, by default should be APN IS LOCKED! to unlock send below

LOCKAPN,WWDSS20,UNLOCK#

this should allow you to unlock apn changing (you can to specify own APN depending on your simcard's network provider (In Australia there's only 3 network providers which are listed below with their own APN settings) and reply with UNLOCKAPN_OK

For telstra (boost, etc.) - https://www.telstra.com.au/business-enterprise/support/chang…

APN,telstra.wap#

For optus (amaysim etc.) - https://www.optus.com.au/for-you/support/answer?id=1378

APN,yesinternet#

For Vodafone(kogan etc.) - https://www.vodafone.com.au/support/device/apn-settings

APN,live.vodafone.com#

reply should be APN_OK, The terminal will restart after 30 seconds! If you unsure what your APN should be then insert your sim to a 4G or 5G phone, and check its network settings to what it changes the default apn to, that should be your APN

GMT,E,0,0#

sets your traccar's time to be at GMT time. (traccar needs GPS traccars to send time as GMT time for correct time display based on traccar server settings). if you need GPS tracker to send e.g. Sydney time then you could use GMT,E,10,30#

  • Can you only use the coupon once?

    • i just bought 2 and coupon was applied to both

      • Let us know please if they are physical or esim :)

        • +1

          sure

    • Can only be used for 1 transaction, but you can buy multiple in a single transaction and get the discount on all.

  • how long does the 6000mAh battery last for?

    • @lachhelix how long did you get?

    • +1

Mine last almost 3 weeks. If lot of small drives just over 2 weeks.

    • +1

Yea about 2.5 - 4 weeks ish roughly.

But I leave mine plugged into the car connected all the time so everytime car is turned on, device gets charged that time until car is turned off.

  • Think I'm going to get some more as spare batteries for my physical SIM ones, thanks OP :)

    • +1

Hmm other esim one have been cheaper before may be 2.80 ish at times if you only need battery.

Otherwise this should be better as it hopefully should be physical Sim one (then again I could be wrong may be)

One in four customers who purchased GPS tracking device had history of domestic violence offending, NSW Crime Commission study finds

    • Hmm so 3/4 do not

    • The only thing we are guilty of is violating esim solder pads

    • +1

One in four, who purchased through one of 20 retailers who the crime commission used their powers to require them to turn over the purchasing information… Sounds like a targeted investigation, not a random sample to me.

  • Is there a documentation on the data it sends (if you configure it to use with own server)?

      And GitHub link too

I give these to all my girlfriends

Recieved mine today, all physical sim.

    • Thankyou, ordering mine now :D

  • +1

Yeah physical Sim in the two units I ordered last night too.

  • Received Physical SIM as well.

    Version: V005
    Software Version: +GMR: N58-R08-STD-OE_V30_XYR-005

Anyone was able to change server?
Looks like it doesn't reply to unlock commands, as well as factory reset

    • It takes like 2 days to 1 week or so for the location to fully update online. ( Not China)

But server should be unlockable easily given you use the right commands

  • can't see any instruction RE how to setup the self hosted server. any clue please?

  • Three received just now, all physical SIM - thanks OP!

    • +1

Ordered 2 yesterday. Arriving 9th July. Hopefully same batch as seem that some getting theirs in a day or two. (In WA). Last few have been esim. At least quite cheap battery if esim. Update here if esim.

    • +1

      All unlocked without issue, too.

    • Bought 1 and it is physical SIM too.

  • So it states in the title that a subscription is required. doesn't this mean that it is sim locked, therefore you can't use your own SIM card?

    • It's not sim locked, but by default it's locked to their traccar server - the commands above allow you to unlock this so you can use your own server, but you'll also need to replace the sim as the subscription would cover the data on the sim too. Setting it up on your own server and sim could end up cheaper, you could likely set it up on Azure/AWS/Google Cloud using their free tier or similar, and a data only sim with small amounts of data (as it only uses small amounts) can be very cheap.

      • @WazzaP Hey thanks for the explanation.

  • Your other option is to use an old android (or apple) phone. Buy a OBD2 to USB-C charge cable so you can place the phone somewhere secure within your car.
Then you can use "Google Find" to locate your phone and therefore your car.
