Applies to most cricket products which obviously can't be listed here. Shameless comment!
Added 4 cricket balls to cart, tried to apply coupon and got "That promotion code could not be applied."
You might need to at least add some categories for us, last I checked balls fall under "All Kookaburra cricket gear or accessories"
Tried a Kookaburra bat… Code didn't work
@mrdravid: Was on on clearance? I don't think it works for clearance stuff, and for their good balls, but it's worked for everything else I've tried, including super coach balls and bowling machine balls.
@Fredescu: How low do we have to go? I was trying to buy practice balls… It's all still pretty vague for a topic that says "all" in the description.
@Simo: I tried every single ball under 2 piece and 4 piece and none of them worked. The ones under the super coach category worked, but I have no idea if those "Comet" balls are like regular 156g two piece leather balls that would be good enough for the nets, or if they're soft balls.
@Fredescu: Yeah it was on clearance… So maybe only works for full price gear!
Edit: added a bat on sale and a full price bat… Code only worked on full priced bat.
Outside of buying used on marketplace or the like, what's the most economical way to get some cricket pads and gloves etc.? Is there an "Anko" for cricket gear?!
I've seen some Michael Clarke Spartan kits on eBay reasonably cheap (doesn't seem to be any in stock currently), but mainly for juniors.
Outside of that you can get some cheap stuff at the right time of the year on sale, but it's hit and miss. Eg there are cheap Kookaburra gloves on sale right now and a cheap bat or two (at Kookaburra).
But I wouldn't call it Anko cheap.
For the kids or an adult?
For pads and gloves, I've found Indian stuff like SG and SS to be better than the cheap Kookaburra/Grey Nic stuff at Rebel. I've had so many of the latter fall apart, while the former keeps going year after year. Style wise the SG/SS etc ones look a bit old school and daggy but they last for the price. When they start using adult sizes, get them a couple of pairs of batting inners. They're cheap, washable, and the outer gloves will last longer.
For helmets, no real point cheaping out. Get something that fits right and is comfortable.
For bats, a JP Gavan during a sale, or similar local maker depending on your location.
Thanks for the tips. It’s for me (adult with no real experience with leather ball cricket) for mucking around in the nets with mates. I’ve got a Kookaburra bat and a box already but yes, looking for pads and gloves primarily.
My cricket ball is from a Spartan Michael Clarke set from 15 years ago at least!
Doesn't really matter what gear you have. Make sure you keep your eye on the ball
Rebel?
No price nor product. Shameless ad.
