i feel they are very slippery expecially when walking on office carpet or wet road outside

These have a rubber textured sole.
Do you mean the leather soled variant is slippery?

i stopped buying this brand of shoe because the grip was so slipery on tiles and in wet.. i wear black assault boots now.. not worth breaking my neck over a pair of 'good looking' shoes hehe

      fair point

yea, first thing i look for when i find a pair of dress shoes, is what the tread looks like underneath… if its thin, then i wont buy it.. if its got thick tread then ill buy it.. plus the shoes will usually last longer if you have thicker tread.. and its not safe also to have thin tread, if you need to run somewhere in an emergency.. the shoes you have, have to be able to handle quick movements and changes of speed etc. could save you one day ^^P .. also, people say these arent waterproof ^^P

How they compare with Hush Puppies?

    • I found these to be an awkward height as compared to the hush puppies, which were more standard boots.
Comfort seemed similar, can’t comment on the grip other people are mentioning.

    • Narrower which made them less comfortable for toe space and walking. Less give in the sole so significantly worse on comfort when standing.

I can't comment on longevity as the hush puppies they were bought to replace are still getting daily use while these are rarely worn due to above mentioned comfort issues.

    • I've had a pair of Hush Puppies shoes that have lasted almost fifteen years without repair (albeit only occasional wear as the leather soles are too slippery for the paving in Sydney CBD in the wet).
I had a pair of Julius Marlow boots that didn't last ten wears before the upper leather split near the sole on both shoes. Repair shop said they couldn't be fixed. Junk.

Yes not same brand but got similar style and look from Rivers in their closing down sale for about 20 bucks

Reading the reviews on Amazon. It sounds like these suffer from the same manufacturing flaws/built-to-cost issues - soles coming away with relatively light wearing and heel stacks delaminating.

    • That is to be expected at this price point, yet still using leather. I'm sticking to my Yanko boots, paid $400 for them, but have been using them since 2019, and they are still like new! My previous Julius Marlow shoes started peeling and wearing out at the 1.5 year mark.

      • Mine started at 1 month. Julius Marlow is garbage if you have any pronation or anything but perfectly flat footed striking as the soles are soft as cheese.

      • where did yu buy Yanko boots?

  • Hard pass

    • Hopefully not worse than the $80 Connor shoes I talked my mate out of buying and into these instead :)

I think you’ll be happy. I bought a pair and worse case, I’ll just take to my local shoe / keyman who I’m sure can add a better grip for cheap.

I've own and worn a few pairs of these. Decent shoes, they double as ice skates on wet blue stone so that's a nice added feature.

      Good for international Ice competiton.

They're missing an s in this sentence: "provides durability for nine to five wear". Because they will wear out after five to nine wears…

  • But people can’t see the RM Williams tags

    • Or the single piece of leather construction 🙄

I have a pair of these, they have lasted me a good long while. But you will slip and slide in these around Melbourne CBD if it is a little wet. I have seen techneques to try to ad more grip, but I am yet to try them.

  • Price seems to have reverted now. Showing as $115.87

    • It depends on your size. 11 is that price, 8 is OPs price.

      • OK I can only fine US size 14 at that price. Both sizes you mention are $125

I have a pair of these.

I'm pretty happy with them. Would them buy again.

I can't remember it being slippery when wet, but will be extra careful.

I actually have more of an issue with rolling my ankle when walking on uneven surfaces. Probably rolled it one too many times playing sport.

  • Bought a similar pair of Julius Marlow boots (but with an inside zip) a few years ago. The leather split on both boots just above the stitching to the sole. I don't think I got ten wears out of them.

Thanks OP! Had a pair of size 12's delivered today. They fit well and look nice. I'm not expecting miracle longevity, but for $69 why would I?! Thank you :)
