Buffet Breakfast at Gumtree R&B (Metro Aspire Hotel, Ultimo, NSW)

Found it through Groupon, $12.50 for buffet breakfast sounds like an awesome deal, a bacon and egg roll from a cafe costs that much these days.

Looks like it has been $12.50 via Groupon for many years. Anyone tried it recently? Reviews seem pretty good.

Funny thing is, it's $12.50 for 1, $25 for 2, then $50 for 3 instead of $37.50. It's possibly intentional to catch the unsuspected. It's clearly incorrect, full price $100 should be for 4 adults.

Anyway, planning to buy 2 + 1, to sit at the same table, has anyone tried that?

Update: 02/Feb (Sunday)

Went this morning, it's actually pretty good for the price. Easy to find street parking, free before 10am.

Walk in price is $20 pre adult, $10 pre child. So if you are bringing a child, just pay for the child when you are there.

Here's a photo of the breakfast setup, from what I can remember, there are: scrambled eggs, hash browns, beef sausages, chicken sausages, shortcut and streaky bacons, grilled tomatoes, baked beans, mushrooms, salami, ham, cheese, fruits, yoghurt, pancake machine, several types of bread and toast, cereals, juices, automatic coffee machine, porridge.

$20 is reasonable, $12.50 is great value.

Comments

  • Man I could go for a $12.50 buffet breakfast right now!

  • Report back and let us know how you go?

  • Just noticed there's a limit of one per person, can buy another as gift.

Not too sure if Groupon actively detect multiple accounts.

Anyway, a genuine deal it seems, the breakfast is a $20 add-on to room bookings, so $25 for walk-in is reasonable, half price $12.50.

  • I went many years ago. Just a small buffet. Nothing wrong with it. Get there early if you don't want to queue up with people, etc.

  • +1

Before you get too excited, the small print seems to say this is for a Buffet Breakfast as opposed to a Hot Buffet Breakfast.

Under Highlights it says "enjoy Unlimited Buffet Breakfast filled with seasonal fruit, selection of cereals and hot coffee.

Doesn't even seem like it includes bread/toast or juice far less bacon and eggs etc.

Might need to double check that because Groupon do seem to have their prices mixed up compared to booking directly through the restaurant.

    • One of the reviews mentions scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages.

Maybe the selection depends on how busy they are.

I guess I'll wait for an Ozbargainer to report back.

  • Updated the post to include a photo and what there there this morning.
