TCL C855 Successor?

Per subject title, does anybody know what the successor to the C855 will be? I visited a couple retailers and they all tell me the C855 is being cleared as they are discontinued by TCL so there will be no more new stock going forwards, but none of them can tell me anything about a successor. The clearance prices being offered are far from ATL so I'm also not keen to FOMO buy, so for the time being I'm more interested in taking a look at the successor.

I tried Googling a bit but have had no luck finding anything as the TCL naming conventions are too darn confusing, exacerbated by apparently different models being released in different regions, and some of the models being given different model names in different regions.
I tried looking up info on a C865 as I assume that's what it'll be called, but couldn't find anything on that either.

Thanks in advance.

    Presumably, the C955.

It went C835, C845, C855, so C865 should be next.

I thought that was the range within a year…

We had the C755 and C655 previously. How do these fit in your model number convention?

Edit: I saw this link and I'm more confused…

C655 is entry, C755 is mid, C855 is high (there's also C955 as premium, X955 as the top end)

          C645/745/845 were all older models.

          • @freefall101: Do you know if Australia sells the 955's? Google turns up nothing.

            • +1

@coldazure: Nope, they don't. We only get limited models down here. The US already has the QM8 out (the QM6 mentioned below is the budget version of that) but it never showed up here.

New models will be out in April/May, if last year is anything to go by.

              • @freefall101: Awesome, thanks for the info. That's what i thought.

I can see that the earliest ozbargains for C855 started in June last year for $2.8k, which means that it was discounted to almost half price after just 2 months from release.

Is that normal for TV's to depreciate that quickly and do you (or anybody else experienced with TVs) think that we can expect the same trend for the C865's this year? Just trying to set my expectations on when I should be looking to buy the TV without getting too ripped off haha.

                • @coldazure: EOFY sales are why it would start being discounted in June, would be my guess, that and everyone else priced cheaper than TCL expected so they bought it in line with market.

Need a crystal ball to know if it would be repeated this year, TCL might have more limited supply which means less cost cutting, they might have heaps of supply meaning they're willing to cut costs to shift more units.

                  • @freefall101: fair enough. thanks for the advice.
too bad i didn't jump on that deal for a crystal ball last week.

  • QM6K series was announced at CES for 2025.

    https://www.tcl.com/us/en/products/home-theater/qm6-class/65…

    • Yeah I saw that, but is that (on paper) the next C855? Or is it just another nice TV?

I haven't done enough research to know what the difference is between all the different models TCL releases (e.g. 755, 855, 955, and a bunch of other random overseas models such as the QM6K), but what I do know is that the C855 is essentially the best bang for buck within that price range so that's what I've been keeping an eye out for.

  • Whatever it is it's going to be ridiculously good value for money.

    • yeah or at least that's the assumption. really comes down to rrp. if we assume it'll have the same starting rrp and price drop trend then it'll be awesome.

      • +2

Can probably ignore RRP, or at least half it. Wait for a settled 'normal' price, and then sales to hopefully drop even further.

        • Yeah I know, it was meant as a relative term, i.e. C855 RRP vs. C865 RRP. If C865 RRP is significantly higher than that of C855 then you can assume the discounted going rates for it would also be proportionally more expensive, and therefore the value of it may not be as good.

I should've just said "pricing" as opposed to rrp.

Ah the C855. The unicorn that I never found. I had to settle for a Bravia 7 instead. Sad times.

i feel your pain. the 85" is still available on clearance here and there but the going price is not great so i had to pass on it and wait on the 2025 model :(

  • sucks that the C855 is 'obsolete', was looking to pick it up the 85' model for a good price.

can anyone suggest an equivalent (or close) to the C855 specs?

    • not from the TCL range. i'm just going to wait for the 2025 model to come out and get that when it goes on sale.

  • +1

I've noticed on AO website there's more C855 65 stock arriving mid March.. So assuming that this will be the last shipment of C855? And other retailers will also receive more stock and potentially a last 'sale' before the the succesor starts hitting AU shelves?

    • Yeah but at this point I'm inclined to just wait and see what the 2025 model will bring. It sounds like the upgrades this year are going to be pretty game changing.

  • The biggest change is going to be the rumoured whva panel which should fix the one big flaw the average viewing angles. Well worth waiting for the 2025 model, apparently Samsung will also use these panels. Also the chip will be updated to the pentonic 800 chip which will be faster and add 4 hdmi 2.1 ports.

  • Also in the same position - I gambled and waited for black friday / boxing day sales but there were none due to lack of stock.

Thinking of going LG C4 now

    • if you can afford it, go nuts!

  • Scam website or not? $1249 to your door.

UK phone number but has an Australian physical address.

      270 Collins st is Novotel.

Yeah this is about as obvious of a scam as it gets.

      • Cheers mate.

        • FYI the store website no longer exists.

    • any idea when QM6K will launch in Australia? Seems to be available overseas now

    • My guess is this is the new c755 rather than c855, since this has less dimming zones than the c855 but more than c755.

  • The c7k looks to be the price equivalent of the c855, they went with less dimming zones more programming more efficiency. This tv is still bright as!
Also the new crystal display hva panel has much better viewing angles that’s probably the main highlight,
The tcl manager mentions it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZcwIw3AE1I
it looks like we also get the pentonic 800 chip as they are listed as 4 hdmi 2.1 ports.
Far out this is a solid tv
So to recap far better viewing angles, more power efficient and more powerful processor

    • and less dimming zones

  • Why did TCL reduce peak brightness and local dimming zones for the newer model!!
Then is it better of buying c755? both c755 and C7K has same peak brightness and local dimming zones

    • The c8k has higher brightness and dimming zones than the c855. maybe that's the actual successor.

      • +1

        Thank you
Hopefully we get c8k soon here in australia
