What Happened to Holiday Package Deals (Ie Groupon, Scoopon etc) ?

Haven't booked a holiday since 'Vid… but used to do 2 or 3 international trips a year.

Used to be quite a few nice all inclusive package deal sites. But they are all gone.

Had a couple of cracker Scoopon deals to Thailand and Jimbaran, but they seem to be all gone as well?

Is there something new these days?

Looking around the South Pacific (Cook islands, Samoa etc). Fiji prices look ridiculous. Port Villa is out of action due to the Earthquake.

Any tips?

All I can see is Lux escapes? (if it helps, I got the Citi card free Lux membership …thing!)

Cheers

  • Are Groupon deals allowed to be posted here?

Groupon and Scoopon deals aren't banned here. Just lack of interest in posting their deals.

    • used to be worth while when they had good cashback offers from SB or CB etc. but now its useless honestly

plus ofc not much good deals on groupon either

I started it from like car services , or like local restaurant cheaper food deals

  • We just booked this holiday from TravelOnline. Quite a few positive reviews in Fiji holiday groups on Facebook.

IMO whilst Denarau is in Fiji, it's as far from Fijian as one can get. Whilst more expensive, I highly recommend getting off the main island (Viti Levu) and travelling to the outer islands for a more Fijian and delightful experience.

        Good advice on Fiji.
I agree to stay well away from Denarau.
Its just reclaimed swampl and separated from the mainland by a small canal.
May as well just to to the QLD Gold Coast instead

Vanuatu is far better value than Fiji and is NOT out of action.

There are some good deals to be had as they are trying to get tourists back there

  • Noticed the same thing recently on scoop on and luxury escapes

  • Aldi

    • FWIW, this is run by Ignite Travel, who's the same group who's behind MyCruises and Flybuys Travel.

  • Tripadeal was mentioned on OzBargain recently & has a lot of good deals, although now owned by Qantas:

They had a good offer at the moment of 20,000 bonus Qantas Frequent Flyer points if you spend over $1000:

Pretty sure Scoopon has the same owners as Luxury Escapes so I’d say they’ve migrated a lot of them over there
Tripadeal are also decent but only if you want flights included

    • Cheers, this makes sense..
Looking to use points for flights.
So looks like the ole hotel only based - all meals, drinks, transfer, massage/ hotel spa type deals are gone.
Last one was Jimbaran in Bali.
1 week of breakfast/dinners, accom, 2 x daily cocktails, bucket of beers, 4 x massages, water equip, transfers, unlimited shuttles for $500 are gooonnnneeeeee.

  • Trip A deal has very good packaged holidays. i have heard this from several people.

  • Weve used travelonline a number of times to bali, fiji and just booked one through them to thailand , they are always well priced, accomodating with changes and additions to booking and are also very responsive via email. Also they have $100 off voucher you can google and add it. I've used this for every booking.
